Our next operating day is Sunday the 7th of June from 11am featuring Standard Railcar R.M.30 built at the Hutt Railway Workshops in 1938.

As Kings Birthday does not fall on the first Sunday of the month this year, we are giving our hardworking volunteers the weekend off operating trains.

Silver Stream Railway is open again this Sunday the 3rd of May, featuring steam train rides behind our Barclay steam locomotive #1749. This loco was used to construct and rebuild railway lines in the North Island for the Public Works Department and New Zealand Railways before it was retired and saved by Sir Len Southward. Ride in the open wagon and step back in time to when the loco was working to build some of New Zealand's important infrastructure.

We open at 11am regardless of weather*, with rides running on demand through out the day. Entry tickets allow as many rides as you want on the day of issue. The last train leaves at approximately 3:45pm.

For more information on where to find us, ticket prices, and information about the railway and the historic items that call it home, please check out our website www.silverstreamrailway.org.nz

*The open wagon will be substituted for an enclosed guards van in poor weather.

We are open today from 11am till 4pm with Barclay 1749 operating.

And thats a wrap. F180 has hit the road, heading home to the Museum Of Transport And Technology in Auckland and the end of our programme of events to celebrate 150 years of the railway reaching the upper Hutt Valley.

A big thanks to the team at the Western Springs Railway who made 180 available and who minded it during its stay. Also to our team who dreamt up the events and made it all happen, to our sponsor who covered the costs of the road bridging operations, and of course all our supporters who were part of the over 1200 people that visited over the last few months and made it all so successful.
