If you've been following us for a while, it probably won't be news to you that transport accounts for 20% of emissions in Aotearoa. To get to zero emissions we need to change our habits, rethinking the way we move. Tomorrow is World Car Free Day so what better time to start! Why not leave your car keys at home and give another mode of transport a go? Even better, why not team up with your neighbours, whānau or colleagues and get them involved too! Ditching our car keys isn't just good for the planet, it can be a great way to exercise, socialise and destress. Let us know what your doing for World Car Free Day!

Meet our friends Shutl! They are a super cool new company based in Christchurch, who offer e-bike subscription services for businesses and individuals. By paying a weekly fee, you or your workplace can get e-bikes you can call your own, without the hassle of maintenance, insurance or damages. Still hasn't sunk in! Claudia Grave and Todd Foster came away from last week's Inspiring Stories Impact Awards as winners in the Enterprise Category!

The evening recognised rangatahi from all over the country fighting for change in climate change, domestic violence, mental health and youth rights (to name a few!). So inspiring to see, and a real privilege to be recognised alongside some epic young kiwi leaders.

This urban myth couldn't be further from the truth, with studies in city after city around the world finding that bike lanes increase customer numbers, spending, and visit frequency. How about that!

Hitch is thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Grow Good. Grow Good helps organisations to go BCorp and beyond. Grow Good has been a key influencer in getting kiwi organisations on board with the BCorp journey. was New Zealand’s 1st qualified B Consultant. Since then he has helped over 50 companies to navigate the BCorp assessment. Given a key component of the BCorp certification is an organisation's environmental performance, Hitch has partnered with Grow Good to help enhance an organisations impact.

The recently released Emissions Reduction Plan sets out four key transport targets. Transport makes up up 39% of total domestic CO2 emissions in Aotearoa, so reduction in this space is mission critical. Our net zero goal depends on it.

We're super excited to share that PwC New Zealand is the latest company to join Hitch's mission to fundamentally change the way people move. PwC's purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems. They say "there is no more important or far reaching problem than climate change. We're focused on helping to solve one of the major issues reshaping the world; climate change and resource scarcity."

As part of PwC's sustainability efforts, they've set some clear targets to reduce their environmental impact. Part of this is a 50% reduction in scope 3 emissions by 2030. Hitch is super excited to have the opportunity to help PwC achieve this target through our Accelerate app.

Lincoln University have Sustainability goals to be carbon neutral within the next decade and carbon zero by 2050. Hitch is wrapped to be helping them reduce their commuting carbon emissions by reducing the number of cars coming in and out of campus.
