Agent Spotlight: Discovering Darwin ☀️🌴

Following Yvette’s incredible Kimberley expedition cruise, she spent 48 hours exploring Darwin and quickly realised it's a destination that deserves more than just a stopover. Here’s what she says:

While two days only scratched the surface, it was enough time to experience some of the city's unique mix of culture, history, nature and spectacular sunsets.

One of the highlights was the Mindil Beach Sunset Market, where great food, live entertainment and a spectacular sunset come together to create a truly Darwin experience. I also enjoyed visiting the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, wandering through the Botanic Gardens, and learning more about the region's fascinating history at the Royal Flying Doctor Service & WWII Experience and WWII Oil Storage Tunnels.

A particular standout was the recently opened Larrakia Cultural Centre, which offers a wonderful insight into the culture and stories of the Traditional Owners of the Darwin region.

Between the waterfront, colourful street art, tropical atmosphere and rich Indigenous heritage, Darwin offers far more than many travellers expect. If you have the time, I'd highly recommend allowing a few extra days to explore, or even adding the Tiwi Islands to your itinerary.

Agent Spotlight: From Broome to Darwin 🌅

One of our Wellington-based agents, Yvette, recently returned from a two week trip with Ponant thanks to Wild Earth Travel where she was able to experience a Broome to Darwin adventure first-hand. We share her experience:

What started with 24 hours in Broome quickly became one of the most memorable travel experiences I've had 🌟

Before setting sail, I explored Broome's historic Chinatown, visited the local museum, and watched a spectacular sunset over Cable Beach. I was also lucky enough to experience the closing celebrations of Shinju Matsuri, a vibrant festival celebrating the town's rich multicultural pearling heritage.

🚢 From there, I boarded a PONANT expedition cruise for 10 incredible days exploring the Kimberley coastline. Highlights included witnessing the amazing Horizontal Falls and Montgomery Reef, spotting incredible wildlife, enjoying daily Zodiac excursions, and learning about the region's fascinating history and Indigenous culture from the expert Expedition Leaders.

One thing I particularly appreciated was the respect shown for local Indigenous culture. Some of the communities we visited requested that photographs of their art not be shared on social media, so I’m respecting those wishes.
