Waka Eastern Bay Community Transport is grateful to have been selected as one of Z Whakatāne’s Good in the Hood community groups.

We are a local not-for-profit charitable trust providing safe, affordable and accessible transport for people who cannot drive or use conventional public transport. Around 95% of our passengers are older or disabled, and we currently provide approximately 650 trips every month.

If you are visiting Z Whakatāne, please consider placing your orange token in the Waka voting box. Every token helps us receive a greater share of the funding and keeps our community connected.

🚌 Another wonderful Waka Wāhine day out! 🌸

This time, our passengers travelled to Rotorua for a day of shopping, a lovely lunch and, most importantly, plenty of conversation, laughter and companionship along the way.

These trips provide much more than transport. They give women an opportunity to connect with others, enjoy new experiences and spend a day out without having to worry about driving.

A very special thank you to the Eastern Bay Community Foundation Women’s Impact Fund for making this trip possible through its generous funding. Your support is helping us bring women together and create some very special memories. 💚

A wonderful day out at Bayfair! 🛍️💚
Waka Eastern Bay recently had the pleasure of taking 11 women from KDAP in Kawerau to Bayfair for a day of shopping, connection and enjoyment.

This trip was made possible through the generous support of the Eastern Bay Women’s Impact Fund, administered by Bay Community Foundation.

Their funding helps us provide opportunities for local women to get out, connect with others and enjoy experiences that may otherwise be difficult to access.
