Hi everyone,

Just thought we would share a photo of the ferry on the temporary pontoon on Whitianga Wharf, our Whitianga base for the next few weeks. The contractors have done a great job in making it the same easy access as usual, even using the original gangway.
The ferry service will be running normal operating hours from here while the Whitianga Wharf floating pontoon is being replaced with a new pontoon including a wider gangway and lights. This will be a big improvement from what was there.

MONDAY 31st AUG : LAST FERRY 5.30pm DUE TO WHARF CLOSURE

Hi everyone,

We have just been informed we will need to shut down the ferry service early tomorrow evening so work can be done to finish the temporary pontoon on the Whitianga Wharf.

So tomorrow (Monday 31st), the ferry service will operate from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

Normal service will resume on Tuesday morning.

Apologies for this inconvenience.

Hi everyone,

For the Whitianga Dawn Service tomorrow, the ferry will run from 5.15am to 6am (free of charge). The normal ferry service then resumes at 7.30am.

Hi everyone,

Just to confirm the ferry service will stop at 7.30pm this evening and will NOT be operating at all tomorrow (Sunday).
At this stage the plan is to start operations as per normal at 7.30am on Monday.

Notice to Customers,

Due to the imminent arrival of Cyclone Vaianu, the ferry service will finish at 7:30pm tomorrow (Saturday evening).

At this stage, it is unlikely that the service will operate on Sunday. A final decision will be made tomorrow, and a further update will be provided.

The ferry service starts its winter hours today.

7.30am to 7.25pm and 8.30pm to 9.25pm

Ferry update 21/01/26 time: 1710, 510pm

Whitianga ferry will continue to operate for current return passengers and essential travel only until 1925, 725pm tonight. Delayed trip frequency to be expected until then, due to weather conditions and high levels of debris in the river.

Good morning everyone, (Wednesday 21st)
The Ferry will run as normal during the day, but we will finish slightly earlier with a 7:30pm finish to the service.
