⚒️ Wicked Restoration Update ⚒️

Big progress this week on Wicked down at Whitianga Marina

The old teak decking was removed using a reciprocating saw fitted with a scraper blade, which made short work of lifting the worn decking and old adhesive. Once everything was stripped back, we uncovered sections of the cockpit sole that had suffered from water damage.

The damaged areas were cut out, the structure inspected, and new treated plywood sections have now been fitted and glassed into place, restoring the integrity of the cockpit floor.

We’ve also started modifying a redundant BBQ locker, transforming it into practical storage space. The locker has been rebuilt and reshaped to create a much more useful storage compartment, making better use of the available space onboard.

As always with restoration projects, uncovering hidden issues is all part of the journey, but it’s satisfying to know the repairs and improvements are being done properly and will last for years to come.

Onwards and upwards! one step closer to bringing Wicked back to her former glory

Meet Hydrous - Joker 820 trailer sailor

Sometimes it’s not about flashy, it’s about doing the fundamentals properly.

This one had a full strip back, rot repairs, repaint, and fresh non-slip throughout. All standard work… but work that makes all the difference to how a boat performs and lasts.

It’s the kind of job that’s hard to wax lyrical about but it’s exactly what keeps boats on the water, not in the shed.

Full deck refit completed ✔️

completed old teak decking removed, substrate taken back and fully re-faired to restore proper lines.

During teak removal we uncovered hidden rot in the engine hatches, something that isn’t always visible until you strip everything back.

Left untreated, this kind of issue can compromise structural integrity and lead to bigger problems down the track.

Hatches were repaired, re-glassed, and brought back to spec before continuing.

Deck was then sealed, primed, and painted, finished with new U-DEK for a clean, durable, low-maintenance result.

A good reminder for boat owners what’s underneath your teak isn’t always what you expect.

Big effort from the crew on this one.

The boys popped over to the Marquesas and took on something a little different 🌴

Not your typical boat builders job this one was a full pool refurb.

Ground back the concrete, prepped the surface properly, laid the fibreglass, and finished it off with that beautiful blue flow coat 💙

All done in some seriously intense heat… not an easy gig.

Pretty epic result and a solid effort from the boys 🔥
