We weren’t sure at this point if we were going to get to the top yet.

Couldn’t even see it because it was sooo foggy!

We hiked the most popular trail in Anchorage. It didn’t feel crowded though… maybe because it was a weekday? The parking lot looked full though.

Some areas were so steep that it looked super sketchy

I saw all these wildflowers and insisted that we take photos 😆

They’re so prettyyy 😍

I’m nervous about hiking solo in bear country. First time carrying bear spray. I mean, we have black bears in California, and can shoo them away like raccoons (the ones in Yosemite need more convincing sometimes though). But here in Alaska especially on this trail, we might have encountered Black bears or Grizzlies 🐻

Thankfully I hiked with a friend!! In the parking lot she asked me, “Do you want to carry your own bear spray or should I carry one for both of us?” 😅

Can’t wait to explore more of Alaska!

This is the closest I’ve felt to Antarctica since actually being there. 🧊

If you’ve been following a while, you know Antarctica has been my dream trip since I was 12 years old — and back in November 2024, I finally went. Still the grandest trip of my life.

Ever since, I’ve wondered: do we have an “Antarctica at home”? Standing here, the answer felt like... yes and no. The glaciers and ice walls FELT familiar, but it’s not quite the same. Guess I’ll need a few more visits to Alaska to know for sure 😁

Either way, these glaciers are stunning, and I can’t wait to explore more of them — and more of Alaska’s wild side. A gorgeous reminder of the South Pole, in the best way.

From Anchorage to Seward 🚂

The train left Anchorage at 6:45 AM (yes… EARLY) to get to Seward by 11 AM. The views were amazing for most of this 4 hour one-way ride.

The food on board was also surprisingly not bad. I highly recommend doing a sit down breakfast since you get great views from the restaurant car and you probably haven’t eaten if you had to get up early (grab and go snacks and food are also an option).

The staff are friendly and helpful too. The train goes through some spots that cars don’t, so I’d say it was worth it, even if driving down is faster 💯 This train only runs mid-May to mid-September.

I also took the train back to Anchorage (where I was assigned to sit on the other side of the train which also had incredible views). Which photo is your favorite??
