What grows around you can teach you..🌱🌍👇

During our visit to the Misminay community high in the Peruvian Andes, we got a glimpse into the incredible knowledge they have of the plants that grow around them.🌱💚🌍🇵🇪

Because accessing healthcare can be difficult when you live high in the mountains and far from medical facilities, generations of knowledge have taught the community how to use local plants in their everyday lives for food, traditional remedies, soothing discomfort, caring for minor wounds, and more. 🌱🏥

They showed us some of the plants they use, how they prepare them, and even how they turn certain plants into a natural cream that can be applied to areas of discomfort.✨️🫶

What touched me most was seeing how deeply connected their everyday life is to the land around them. 🌿💚

Travel isn't always about discovering something new. Sometimes, it's about learning from knowledge that has existed for generations.

And that's exactly why immersive travel matters. 🌎✨

Celebrating 3 Years of Bigger Than Us! 💚🌎🫶

Bigger Than Us turned 3 this August 7, 2026.🥳

What started as an eco-tourism platform has grown into something I never could have imagined.🥹✨️

🌎 We've explored incredible places.
🌎 We've built partnerships around the world.
🌎 We've hosted our very first group trip to Peru.
🌎 We're preparing for Norway and Brazil.

And, most importantly, we've watched complete strangers become lifelong friends.💚✨️

Along the way, I realized something important:

People weren't only looking for unforgettable destinations.....

They were looking for belonging,
For connection,
For a community of people who share the same curiosity, values, and love for meaningful travel.🌎🫶

That's why this anniversary feels different.🥳✨️

We're not just celebrating where Bigger Than Us has been.

We're celebrating where it's going.🥳🌎💻

This week marks the beginning of our next chapter...

One where the journey doesn't end when the plane lands.🌎✈️🫶

Three years ago, Bigger Than Us existed only on paper as my bachelor’s thesis📝

Today, I’m officially a full-time entrepreneur🥳
This journey has been anything but linear.

From studying tourism management in the Netherlands, joining an entrepreneurship incubator, presenting my business at university, working in the corporate world, building partnerships across different countries, hosting our first group trip to Peru, growing a small but incredible team, and learning through every challenge along the way... every step has led to this moment.

There were moments when I doubted myself.
Moments when I wanted to give up.
Moments when I had to completely redefine what Bigger Than Us was becoming.
But I kept believing in one simple idea:
Travel has the power to connect people and change lives.

This week, I close one chapter and fully step into another.

I’m no longer building Bigger Than Us around a full-time job.

Bigger Than Us is now my full-time commitment.
Thank you to every person who believed in this dream before it looked possible💚🌎

The best is still ahead.

Bringing people together to enjoy the colors, traditions, and a little piece of Peru.🇵🇪

During our time in the Sacred Valley, we had the chance to wear traditional Peruvian ponchos and learn about the craftsmanship and cultural significance behind them. 🇵🇪🧶✨

More than just beautiful garments, these ponchos reflect generations of history, identity, and tradition, with every color and pattern telling a unique story. ❤️🌎

Moments like these remind us how culture has a special way of bringing people together and creating memories that stay with us long after the journey ends.🇵🇪📍🌎
