We start our trip in Cusco at 3,400 meters, driving for 4 hours across the Andes, then down to the Apurimac River canyon (meaning”Speaker of the God” in Quechua). This river is also the most direct source of the Amazon River, making it the longest river in the world. We then set off at 2000 meters.

Colca Canyon is the Canyon of the Colca River in southern Peru. It’s located about 160 kilometres northwest of Arequipa. The Canyon is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in the United States, at 4160 meters, and is promoted as the “world’s deepest canyon,” although its walls are not as vertical as those of the Grand Canyon.
