Everyone knows Bora Bora.

Or at least, we think we do.

The overwater bungalows. Mount Otemanu. A lagoon in so many shades of blue that words rarely do it justice.

But look beyond the postcard, and another Bora Bora begins to reveal herself.

Long before she became one of the most photographed islands in the world, Bora Bora carried other names, other stories, and a history passed from one generation to the next.

Among them was "Pora Pora i te Fanau Tahi", “Pora Pora, the first born.”

Oral traditions tell of an island born first from the ocean.

Beyond the celebrated resorts and the beauty that made her famous lies another world: one shaped by stories, traditions, ancient sites and generations of Polynesian life.

After months of watching this exciting project take shape, Bloody Mary's Hotel is opening its doors in Bora Bora.

Inspired by the legendary Bloody Mary's Restaurant, an island institution since 1979, the new 53-key boutique hotel brings a fresh energy to Povai Bay while keeping the relaxed, social spirit that made the original address so loved.

The same lagoon.
The same view of Mount Otemanu.
The legendary restaurant.
And now, a new way to stay and experience Bora Bora.

We have been following the project closely and visiting throughout its transformation, and we are excited to see this new chapter finally come to life.

✨ A new chapter is about to begin in the Austral Islands.

From 2027, Aranui Cruises will welcome Aranoa, its new mixed passenger and cargo vessel, created to sail one of the most remote and fascinating archipelagos of The Islands of Tahiti.

Following the spirit of the legendary Aranui experience, Aranoa will carry both travelers and freight, creating a meaningful connection with the islands and communities along the way.

Its 13-day itineraries will venture south from Tahiti toward the Australs, revealing an entirely different side of Polynesia: the turquoise lagoons of Tubuai and Raivavae, the endemic birdlife of Rimatara, remarkable craftsmanship, fertile lands and communities where traditions remain very much part of everyday life. Selected 2027 departures will travel even farther south to Rapa, with its dramatic mountains and fjord-like coastline.

With a maximum of just 198 passengers, Aranoa promises an intimate way to experience these distant islands while continuing a model that has connected remote Polynesian communities for decades.

For travelers who already know Bora Bora and Moorea, or simply want to experience a quieter and deeply rooted side of our islands, the Australs deserve a place on the map for 2027.

And we cannot wait to share them with your guests.
