Our Story
Baliwag Transit, Inc. was formerly a single proprietorship owned and operated by Mrs. Victoria Vda. De Tengco which started as early as 1950.
The early operation of Baliwag Transit was saddled with losses due to cutthroat competition with the City Bus and later with PBC (Pedro B. Cruz), the successor of the the City Bus Company. But due to hard work and determination, coupled with some good luck of the owner, Baliwag Transit, Inc. was able to go through the rough years until in 1966 when Mrs. Tengco was able to acquire the franchise of the PBC formerly City Bus. Still later in 1967, Mrs. Tengco likewise acquired the lines of the Victory Liner which was then the major operator from Nueva Ecija. Victory Liner was then authorized to operate some 132 buses so that together with Baliwag Transit buses, she was able to operate some 200 buses from provinces of Bulacan and Nueva Ecija to Manila.
The acquisition of Victory Liner and the PBC franchises paved way for the rapid expansion of Baliwag Transit. Franchising was arranged with Industrial Finance Corporation not only for the purchase of franchises but also for the purchase of MAN diesel units.
In September of 1968, Mrs. Tengco decided to incorporate Baliwag Transit, Inc. for better management and financing, and all her assets rights and interests and transportation equipment were transferred to the corporation.
Gradually, with the stoppage of La Mallorca, Pambusco's operation in Central Luzon, Baliwag Transit, Inc. applied for new lines not only in Nueva Ecija but also Hagonoy and Malolos (Bulacan) as well as in Guagua (Pampanga) to Manila. In addition to the regular bus services, in 1975, Baliwag Transit, Inc. decided to go into the tourism business by operating air-conditioned tourist buses. Baliwag Transit, Inc. was able to obtain from the Department of Tourism, a certificate to do business as Liscensed Tour Transport Operator and was able to import from Marubeni Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, twenty [20] Hino de Luxe Air-conditioned Tourist Coaches under P.D. 335 between San Jose, Hagonoy, Baliwag and Cabanatuan to Kalookan City, Cubao, and vice-versa. From this point, we continue to keep on acquiring new units both regular and first class de luxe air-conditioned buses to match up the ever growing demand of an efficient, safe, reliable and dependable passenger bus service in our franchise area of operation.
On January 1990, we were able to purchase the franchise line of the Philippine Lawin Bus Line at their Cagayan Valley route involving twenty (20) units of first class buses and this is the latest addition to our expansion of fleet of buses.
