The Philippines continues to be one of the top coconut exporters in the world, with strong global demand for products like coconut oil, desiccated coconut, and other coconut-based ingredients. This creates a powerful opportunity for farmers to upgrade practices and tap into higher-value markets.

At AtoANI, we are an accredited Coco-Learning Site for Agriculture by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture, supporting farmers in adopting sustainable and regenerative high-value crops production.

🌱 Sourcing Directly from Farmer Groups

AtoANI continues to work directly with farmer groups across to purchase locally grown ube tubers, providing farmers with a market for their harvest while supporting the expansion of ube production. 💜🌾

The sourced tubers serve two important purposes: selected tubers are retained as planting materials for the next production cycle, while others are processed into value-added ube products.

The Bohol Ube Project aims to support farmer livelihoods, conserve Bohol’s local ube varieties, expand production, and build a more reliable and traceable supply of ube for local and international markets. 🤝

AtoANI iCROP further support these efforts through data-driven crop planning and traceability, helping improve production decisions, track ube sources, and better align farmer production with actual market demand. 📊📍

💜 Purple Yam Futures Insight: Building the Philippine Ube Industry Beyond the Current Boom

As global interest in ube continues to grow, AtoANI’s foresight study “Purple Yam Futures: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges for the Philippine Ube Industry by 2050” reminds us that today’s popularity is only one part of a much longer story.

The study used primary and secondary data, environmental scanning, futures-thinking tools, and strategic backcasting to explore how the Philippine ube industry could evolve over the coming decades. 🔮🌱

One of the study’s key insights is that rising demand alone will not automatically create a strong and inclusive industry.

For the Philippines to benefit from ube’s growing global visibility, the sector must address several interconnected priorities:

🌾 Production capacity - expanding supply while protecting soil health and biodiversity.

💜 Variety conservation - preserving culturally and economically important ube varieties, including ubi kinampay.

🇸🇦 AtoANI at the KFUPM–DTVC Startup Townhall

AtoANI was honored to receive an exclusive invitation to the KFUPM–DTVC Startup Townhall with Dr. Muhammad Al-Saggaf, President of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, together with the leadership of Dhahran Techno Valley Company.

The invitation-only session provided startup founders with valuable insights into how KFUPM and DTVC can support international companies entering and expanding in the Saudi Arabian market. Opportunities discussed included soft-landing support, access to corporate research and development centers, collaboration with KFUPM’s research and innovation ecosystem, investment and venture support, and potential off-take agreements and commercial partnerships. 🚀🤝

The keynote, “Building Global Innovation Partnerships with Saudi Arabia,” also highlighted KFUPM’s transformation under Saudi Vision 2030 and the expanding opportunities available to global startups.

For AtoANI, the Middle East represents a market worth exploring in the future. With increasing interest from the region in ube-based products, there may be opportunities to introduce Philippine-grown and processed ube products while building partnerships that connect Filipino farmers with emerging international markets. 🌱💜

The discussions provided valuable guidance on the regulatory, documentary, quality, logistics, and market-entry requirements involved in exporting Philippine agricultural and processed food products. We also gained clearer insights into how various government agencies can support enterprises throughout the export journey, from product preparation and compliance to shipment and international market access. 📋📦

These consultations are particularly relevant to the Bohol Ube Project, which is working to strengthen the production, processing, traceability, and export readiness of Philippine-grown ube and ube-based products.

As international demand continues to grow, building a reliable export value chain requires coordinated support from farmer groups, processors, government institutions, logistics providers, certification bodies, and market partners. AtoANI’s Partnerships Lead and Technology Lead attended Naturland’s first Organic Day in the Philippines at Conrad Manila, guided by the theme “From Pioneer to Mainstream: Creating Organic Pathways and Partnerships for the Philippines”

The conference brought together leaders from government, agriculture, industry, hospitality, retail, and sustainability to explore how stronger partnerships, trusted certification systems, and greater consumer awareness can help advance organic agriculture in the country. 🤝🌿

For AtoANI, the event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with organizations involved in organic agriculture and better understand possible pathways toward organic certification.

This is particularly relevant to the Bohol Ube Project, our export-driven use case for strengthening the Philippine ube value chain. Organic certification may be an important market-entry or buyer requirement for certain international markets, particularly in the European Union, depending on how ube-based products are positioned and sold.

As global demand for ube continues to grow, export readiness must go beyond increasing production. It also requires coordinated work across farmer support, production practices, traceability, certification, processing, quality assurance, and market access. 💜🌍

🌱 AtoANI at LEAP East 2026: Soft Launching AtoANI iCROP AI and Gaining New Insights

AtoANI participated as an exhibitor at LEAP East 2026, where we soft-launched the Land Suitability Assessment tool, one of the key features of AtoANI iCROP AI. 🚀

The feature is designed to help farmers and landowners identify crops that may be suitable for their land by considering factors such as soil conditions, terrain, water requirements, climate, and farming goals. 🌍🌾

During the event, we introduced AtoANI iCROP AI to visitors, demonstrated how the platform can support better farming decisions, and gathered valuable feedback to help us further improve its features and user experience. 💡📊

We also connected with fellow startup exhibitors and explored potential collaborations that could contribute to more innovative, sustainable, and market-driven agricultural solutions. 🤝✨

Beyond exhibiting, the talks offered valuable insights that are closely aligned with AtoANI’s journey and future direction.

The session “Corporate IP and Tech: The Untapped Fuel Powering Startup Support” highlighted how intellectual property and technology transfer can help startups accelerate innovation. This strongly reflects AtoANI’s experience through the IP Hatch Program, which facilitated the transfer of a US AI patent from a multinational company to AtoANI. The transferred technology is helping support the continued development of the AtoANI iCROP platform. 💻⚙️

We also gained important insights from the “Next Era of GovTech” discussion, particularly on how technology solutions can be designed and packaged for local government units. The session highlighted opportunities for AtoANI to work with LGUs and offer AtoANI iCROP as a solution that can support smallholder farmers through land suitability assessment, crop planning, contract growing arrangement, agricultural advisory, and data-driven decision-making. 🏛️🌱

💜 Looking Ahead Before the Ube Boom: Futures Study developed for the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP)

Back in early 2025, before ube reached its current level of global mainstream visibility in 2026, with major coffee chains introducing ube-inspired beverages across international markets, AtoANI conducted a foresight and futures thinking study on the Philippine ube industry for the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).

Titled “Purple Yam Futures: Navigating Opportunities and Challenges for the Philippine Ube Industry by 2050", the study explored possible futures for Philippine ube and examined the opportunities, risks, and strategic actions needed to build a more resilient and competitive industry over the long term. 🔮🌱

The research was presented during DAP’s HINABI event under the session “Reimagining Food Systems and Consumption Futures”.

The paper has also been endorsed for publication in DAP’s Compendium of Research Studies 2024. Its detailed analysis and specific recommendations, particularly those relevant to policymakers, government institutions, industry stakeholders, and development organizations, will be available through the official publication. Those interested in accessing the complete study may reach out to the Development Academy of the Philippines once the compendium has been published.

As global interest in ube continues to grow, we believe the conversation must go beyond trends and product popularity.
