Hello People,

2 guys from De La Salle University (Fred Agustin & Gio Espital) will be cycling through Cebu City on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 as part of a 17-day bike trip across Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao to raise funds for scholarships and awareness for the environment.

They will be leaving from De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College in Toledo City (via Naga Road) in the morning of June 27 and are expected to arrive in Cebu City mid-afternoon.

At 5;30pm, they will pedal on to Cebu City Pier #5 in order to catch the Trans-Asia Shipping boat to Ozamiz City.

This is a request for your show of support by joining them at 5:30pm in a Solidarity Ride from Bon Appetea Milk Tea Store (Apitong Branch, corner Archbishop Reyes Avenue near Ayala PUJ Terminal, behind Grand Cenia Hotel) to Pier 5. There won’t be any marshals or citom or policemen to stop traffic. It will just be a bunch of people on bicycles navigating rush hour traffic like everybody else, albeit on bicycles.

Members of the media are encouraged to meet, greet & interview Fred & Gio on Wednesday afternoon before they head off to the pier.

In preparation for a momentous day in Cebu City, I made the 1st template for Bike Lanes, Bike Rights NOW!!! demonstration / rally. We hope that bicycle lanes will be realized by the local government and implemented in the near future.

Invitation to Bike Lanes and Bicycle Rights. March 1st!!!

Cebu City is once again at the forefront in various creative initiatives in responding to various socio-environmental challenges.

One of which is the proposal for Road Sharing, this timely proposal does not only recognizes the growing population of people using other modes of transportation, but is also an important response to reducing our carbon emission, and preserving the integrity of our air-shed, among others.

May we invite representatives from your organization, and your network to an all-bikers consultation this coming March 1, Thursday, at Basilica Del Sto.Niño Multi-purpose Room, from 8:00 – 11:30 in the morning.

During this meeting we will be discussing, what are the necessary components that we need to meet for road sharing, such as policy, incentives, including, but not limited to infrastructures.

We also would like to know your feed backs, ideas, and recommendations how we can proceed to realize our plan to make Cebu as the Pedal Capital of our Country.

This March 1 meeting is one of the many preparatory meeting that we will be having before the bigger multi-stakeholders meeting this coming March 17, 2012.

Your presence is really important and we hope to see your group be represented in this meeting.
