βEMONGβ MAINTAINS ITS STRENGTH AS IT PREPARES TO MOVE SOUTHEASTWARD
Location of Center (7:00 AM)
The center of Severe Tropical Storm EMONG was estimated based on all available data at 245 km West of Bacnotan, La Union (16.5Β°N, 118.1Β°E).
Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and central pressure of 980 hPa.
Present Movement:
South southwestward at 15 km/h
Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to storm-force winds extend outwards up to 220 km from the center

Heavy Rainfall Outlook
Refer to Weather Advisory No. 35 issued at 5:00 AM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by DANTE and EMONG.
Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.
β’ Moderate to significant impacts from storm-force winds are possible within any of the localities where Wind Signal No. 3 is hoisted.
β’ Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the localities where Wind Signal No. 2 is hoisted.
β’ Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.
The highest Wind Signal which may be hoisted during the occurrence of EMONG is Wind Signal No. 4.
The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
β’ Today: Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, and Davao Oriental.
β’ Tomorrow (25 July): Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Camiguin.
β’ Saturday (26 July): Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, and Camiguin.
Coastal Inundation
There is a minimal to moderate risk of life-threatening storm surge with peak heights reaching 1.0 to 2.0 m within 36 hours over the low-lying or exposed coastal localities of Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, and Zambales. Refer to Storm Surge Warning No. 3 issued at 8:00 AM today for the details.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
A Gale Warning is in effect over the western seaboards of Luzon. Refer to Gale Warning No. 2 issued at 5:00 AM today.
24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough or high seas over the following coastal waters:
β’ Up to 14.0 m: The western seaboards of Ilocos Sur and La Union.
β’ Up to 11.0 m: The seaboards of Pangasinan.
β’ Up to 8.0 m: The western seaboard of Zambales.
β’ Up to 6.0 m: The western seaboard of Bataan.
β’ Up to 4.5 m: The western seaboards of Batangas, Lubang Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.
β’ Sea travel is risky all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.
Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
β’ Up to 4.0 m: The eastern seaboards of Isabela and mainland Cagayan.
β’ Up to 3.5 m: The western seaboards of northern Palawan including Calamian Islands; the northeastern seaboard of Aurora.
β’ Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes, Marinduque, and Kalayaan Islands; the seaboards of Babuyan Islands; the southern seaboard of Quezon; the eastern seaboard of Oriental Mindoro; the northern and western seaboards of Romblon; the remaining seaboards of Bataan
β’ Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
β’ Up to 2.5 m: The remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan, Aurora, and Cavite; the seaboards of Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Surigao del Sur; the western seaboards of southern Palawan and Antique; the eastern seaboard of Catanduanes and Davao Oriental
β’ Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Aklan, and Northern Samar; the remaining seaboards of Bicol Region, Batangas, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, and Romblon; the southwestern seaboard of Negros Occidental and Iloilo; the western seaboard of Guimaras.
β’ Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
β’ EMONG is forecast to move generally southeastward before turning north northeastward in the next 24 hours. On the forecast track, EMONG may pass close to Pangasinan this afternoon and may make landfall over Ilocos Region tonight or tomorrow early morning. After traversing Northern Luzon, the center of EMONG will re-emerge over the Luzon Strait and may pass close to Babuyan Islands.
β’ EMONG may intensify into typhoon prior to its landfall.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
