By switching to a cleaner mode of transportation and turning car-free, communities will gain safer spaces to travel, nurture healthier interactions among each other, and aspire for a more active lifestyle. Through this campaign, we’re echoing a reminder of the harmful effects of petrol and diesel-powered private cars to our air quality, traffic, and environment.

As we continue building an inclusive, safer, and modernized transport system in the city, we’re also shaping a livable locality through collaborative work and community engagements. Inspired by this campaign, the DPTMP maintains its mission for dignified mobility by promoting clean, comfortable, and efficient travel options. Soon, through the DPTMP's EV bus fleet, better travel options will be accessible for the public.

Today, let us come together and give our streets a break from cars. Whether you choose to walk, bike, carpool, or take public transportation, every small action can help reduce traffic and pollution while making our community safer, healthier, and more enjoyable.

The City Government of Davao, through the Davao Bus Project Social Development Program (SDP), has called on public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and allied workers anew to join the Social Preparation Training, a capability enhancement training for the beneficiaries of the project.

Since 2024, the program has trained 81 batches, involving a total of 6,239 participants.

SDP Licensed Senior Social Work Associate III Joshua Mate on Monday highlighted that the training serves as a bridge to prepare public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers, operators, and allied workers for the shift from traditional jeepneys to a modernized bus system.

“Naga-reach out na mi sa mga PUJ driver, operator, ug allied workers na mu-apil sa social preparation training. Pre-requisite ni siya kay para ni sa ilang mga entitlements. In time na mag-modernize na ta, madawat na tong mga PUJ driver (We reached out to PUJ drivers, operators, and allied workers to join the social preparation training. It’s a pre-requisite for their entitlements so they will be approved once transportation became modernized),” he said.

The two-day training covers key topics on personal development, financial literacy and entrepreneurial mind-setting, gender sensitivity, and employment facilitation.

Moreover, a Php 700 per day is provided to participants to ensure that they are compensated for the loss of their daily income.

Interested drivers, operators, and allied transport workers can register at the SDP Office located at People’s Park or call from these phone numbers: 0967-165-3773, 0966-047-6257, 0917-814-4696

The Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP), formerly known as the High-Priority Bus System (HPBS), is a long-term initiative implemented by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and is being implemented by the City Government of Davao to address local public transit needs, in the hopes of improving commuter comfort for Dabawenyos. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 👥🇵🇭

Every community has a voice in shaping Davao’s transport! In Barangay 19-B, the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP) continued its IEC campaign by bringing project information closer to residents and creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue as the city transitions toward a safer, more reliable, and more inclusive public transport system.

The session brought together barangay functionaries and representatives from the community, creating a space where different voices could be heard.

From questions and concerns to ideas and recommendations, every perspective matters. Women, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, workers, commuters, youth, and other sectors of the community must have opportunities to participate in shaping a transport system that responds to their needs and experiences.

Inclusive modernization is not simply about building infrastructure. It is about building trust, ensuring transparency, listening to diverse voices, and making sure no one is left behind.
