Proud to be part of this important effort in ensuring the safe and proper management of hazardous medical waste in Negros. ♻️🏥

Through Urban Hazmat Transport, over 111 tons of hazardous waste have been safely hauled to DENR-accredited facilities for proper treatment and disposal—helping protect public health and the environment.

NEGROS SHIPS HAZARDOUS MEDICAL WASTE TO ACCREDITED FACILITIES; OVER 111 TONS CLEARED IN OCCIDENTAL

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL — Due to the absence of large‑scale treatment plants on the island, hazardous medical waste across Negros is safely transported to DENR‑accredited facilities in Cavite and Cebu through contracted third‑party service providers.

In Negros Occidental, private firm Urban Hazmat Transport has hauled over 111 metric tons of accumulated hazardous waste from public hospitals and facilities in Himamaylan, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Isabela, Cadiz, and Silay City between June and August 2026 for proper treatment and disposal in Cavite.

Meantime, Negros Oriental ships medical waste from the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete to an accredited facility in Cebu. The province has also acquired a ₱20‑million medical waste shredder and disinfection system, currently awaiting DENR approval to enable on‑site processing in the future.

Both provincial governments ensure strict compliance with environmental regulations to safeguard public health and prevent pollution.
