YIPES! AIRFARES MAY POSSIBLY INCREASE DUE TO HUGE FUEL SURCHARGE JUMP

If you are booking a flight from April 16 to 30, brace yourselves for possibly a huge airfare increase, depending on where you are going. The Civil Aeronautics Board has issued an interim passenger and cargo fuel surcharge for both international and domestic flights from April 16 to 30. The level was raised to level 19 from level 8!

What does this mean?

Based on news reports, the fuel surcharges at Level 19 are as follows:
Domestic flights: P627 to P1,834
Foreign flights: P2,070.77 to P15,397.15

JUST IN: Travelers should brace for a dramatic increase in airfares as the passenger and cargo fuel surcharge has been increased to a historic high at Level 19.

Under Level 19, the passenger fuel surcharge ranges between P627 and P1,824 for domestic flights, depending on the distance, while for international flights originating from the Philippines, the surcharge ranges from P2,070.77 to P15,397.15. | via Ted Cordero/GMA News Online

Philippine Airlines (PAL) announces the temporary suspension of its flights between Manila and Riyadh (RUH) - until April 01, 2026.

𝐏𝐑 𝟔𝟓𝟒/𝟔𝟓𝟓 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚-𝐑𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐝𝐡-𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚

This precautionary measure is being taken considering the security situation affecting parts of the Middle East and the resulting operational uncertainties in certain regional airspace corridors and airport operations.

The safety of our passengers, crew, and aircraft remains Philippine Airlines’ highest priority. Given the current environment, PAL has determined that temporarily suspending these services is the most prudent course of action while conditions remain fluid.

PAL continues to closely monitor developments and coordinate with aviation authorities and relevant stakeholders to determine when normal operations can safely resume.
