KABANKALAN BECOMING A CITY OF FOUNTAINS
‎

We extend our appreciation to the City Engineer’s Office and the General Services Office for undertaking surface-levelling works at the Kabankalan Football Field.

These preparatory works will pave the way for the development of the field’s turf and other planned improvements. This forms part of the City Government’s continuing commitment to providing Kabankalanons with safer, greener, and more functional public spaces.

Kabankalan eyes opening of new city college in June 2027

The City Government of Kabankalan led by Mayor Benjie Miranda is gearing up to launch the proposed City of Kabankalan College (CKC) by June 2027, aiming to provide free higher education to local residents.

During a recent public hearing, Dr. Fernando Abello, head of the project's Technical Working Group and a retired professor from Central Philippine State University (CPSU), announced that the college will initially offer two degree programs:

-Bachelor of Science in Human Services
-Bachelor of Science in Social Work

For its maiden academic year, the local college will accommodate its first batch of 140 students, selected through an entrance examination.

Admission will strictly prioritize Kabankalan residents.
Road to urbanization

Mayor Benjie Miranda emphasized that the institution will charge zero tuition, targeting students who fail to secure slots in other existing public higher education institutions within the city.

While the construction of a permanent campus has yet to commence, the city government has already laid out a contingency plan. The CKC will temporarily operate using vacant classrooms at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) hub, alongside other underutilized public school classrooms in the city.

The ordinance establishing the college is currently undergoing review and public consultations before its final approval by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
