Now how about some Filipino rock/soul/funk? A fascinating snapshot of the late-’70s Pinoy rock/soul scene.

Gapô Vol. 1, originally released by Ace Records in 1978, brings together bands from Olongapo’s thriving bar and nightlife circuit - a scene shaped by Filipino musicians, rock, soul, funk, and the musical influence surrounding the Subic Bay area.

What makes this one especially interesting for collectors is that some of the bands featured had little or no other commercial recordings. So this feels more like a document of a particular place, scene, and moment in Philippine music history.

A cool piece of Pinoy vinyl history for anyone digging beyond the usual OPM titles.

This is a 2022 reissue. Brand new. Php2,000 only!

More Filipino jazz gems! The kind of records you don’t see every day.

B**g Penera - Batucada sa Calesa and B**g Penera - B**g Penera capture a fascinating side of the local ’70s jazz scene, blending jazz with Latin rhythms, Filipino musical sensibilities, and a distinctly Manila-era sound.

Two records worth digging for if you’re exploring the deeper side of Filipino jazz and OPM.

Originally released in 1977 and 1978, these are official 2021 reissues.

₱2,000 each.
