Long before the summit photos and celebrated expeditions, there were Filipinos who explored uncharted peaks, built mountaineering organizations, trained generations of climbers, pushed expedition safety forward, and documented the stories of our mountains.

Beyond the Summit honors the pioneers, explorers, expedition leaders, safety experts, and chroniclers whose contributions helped shape Philippine mountaineering. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

showed that the greatest mountains we climb are often the ones in our minds. His life reminds us that impossible is not a destinationโ€”itโ€™s a challenge to be overcome with courage, discipline, and unwavering belief in ourselves.

And to all the souls lost in the Broad Peak tragedy, may you all rest in peace. ๐Ÿ™

Nims was leading an international team expedition through his company, Elite Exped, helping climbers safely attempt one of the worldโ€™s 14 mountains above 8,000 meters. It was supposed to be his 58th summit of an 8,000-meter peak.

Hereโ€™s a detailed timeline of the events that transpired on the tragic day of July 30th.

There is still no official confirmation of your passing, as your body has not yet been found or recovered. If you have indeed left this world, I find comfort in knowing that you're doing what you loved most โ€” in the mountains, a place where you truly belonged and where you always seemed to thrive.

It is difficult to feel only sadness, because your life was a reflection of passion, courage, and purpose. We all have our own journey and, eventually, we all face the same ending. What matters is that we are given the chance to live fully, pursuing the things that bring meaning to our lives.

If this is truly your final chapter, then you leave behind a legacy of determination and inspiration.

The only person to do so.
No easy feat.

, you are forever my idol and if you have truly found your final resting place among the mountains you loved, may it be a place worthy of someone who dedicated his life to exploring, inspiring, and chasing the impossible. ๐Ÿ’ชโœจ

Update [08/01] Elite Exped has officially confirmed the passing of Nims. ๐Ÿ˜ญ
