⛪ Santuario del Santo Cristo Parish, also known as the Church of San Juan del Monte.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, or Theophany, which is the feast day commemorating the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Originally the baptism of Christ was celebrated on Epiphany, which commemorates the coming of the Magi, the baptism of Christ, and the wedding at Cana.

This January we are celebrating our beloved Santo Niño (Holy Child Jesus) on the third sunday. Yesterday the Cebu City streets were decorated with colorful banderitas-style. Red, green, and yellow lights stretch from the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño. Last night. according to the news, glowing lights from thousands of devotees were walking with Him.

Again, Santo Niño de Cebú is the oldest Christian artifact in the Philippines, originally a gift from the Conquistador Ferdinand Magellan to Rajah Humabon (baptized as Carlos) and his wife and chief consort, Hara Humamay (baptized as Juana) on account of their Christian baptism in 1521. It's a tradition of festivals and processions in the Philippines, a lot of places where Santo Niño de Cebú celebrates like in Cebu City of course, the Sinulog Festival, Sinayang Festival in Iloilo, Ati-Atihan in Kalibo, Aklan, Halad Festival in Midsayap North Cotabato, Sakay Sakay Festival in Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Sinulog de Kabankalan City, and more.

This video was taken last year (2025).
