Don’t miss out on a great reward while you are in the Haram.

After the obligatory prayers, you may notice the congregation standing again for Salat al-Janazah. As pilgrims, we may sometimes be unaware of it or leave immediately after salah. When it is offered, take the opportunity to stay and join the prayer.

Here’s how to offer Salat al-Janazah:
1. Say the first takbir and recite Al-Fatihah.
2. Say the second takbir and send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.
3. Say the third takbir and make du‘a for the deceased.
4. Say the fourth takbir, then offer salam.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever attends the janazah until he offers the prayer will have one qirat, and whoever attends until the deceased is buried will have two qirats.”
When asked about the two qirats, he ﷺ said: “Like two great mountains.”
Agreed upon (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

So the next time Salat al-Janazah is announced in the Haram, don’t rush to leave. Stay, join the prayer, and seek the reward from Allah.
