Pray for Baguio

A total of 46 patients as of 2:00 PM today were received by the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center following the earthquake that hit the city this morning.

The hospital had to set up a temporary Emergency Room (ER) at its garden area to accommodate the surge of patients.

Majority of the patients were students who experienced anxiety and panic attacks during and after the earthquake.

The effect of earthquakes on people isn't just external physical harm, it can also be mental. The shaking, the commotion, and the noise during an earthquake can be extremely stressful and traumatic to some people. Earthquake trauma can last for days, weeks, or even years depending on the severity of the experience.

For example, many of those who experienced and survived the tragic earthquake in 1990 still suffer from trauma caused by that event. They can experience panic and anxiety attacks whenever an earthquake occurs.
