Bohol is the tenth largest island in the Philippines. It is one of the bigger islands in 'the Visayas', the group of islands in the center of the Philippines. Bohol is, together with 72 small islands around the main island, an island province of 4117 square kilometer. Agriculture, together with the tourism, are the two dominating economic sectors of the main island Bohol.

Main attractions of Bohol

For tourists who make a tour through the country, Bohol has three main attractions. These are the tropical forest, the smallest monkey in the world and the 'Chocolate Hills'. For 'sun, sea and beach lovers', there are a lot of possibilities for snorkeling, diving in the unpolluted waters and relaxing on the splendid beaches on some of the surrounding small islands. The Bohol province forms absolutely one of the places to stay for a longer period.

Sun, sea, beaches and diving! 3

Two of the smaller islands are Panglao, Balicasag and Pamilacan, southwest of the main island Bohol. They are the superb diving spots of the province of Bohol. The diving places are rated among the best of the world.

The Chocolate Hills

One of the most spectacular landscapes in the Philippines is formed by the Chocolate Hills on the island Bohol. The Chocolate Hills have all the same shape, but differ in the altitude. The most of the 1268 hills reach 40 meters high.

The smallest monkey

A reason to visit the main island Bohol, is that Bohol still has tropical rainforests in the higher parts of the island. Moreover, If you want to meet the smallest monkey on earth, the Tarsier, you'll have to visit Bohol! The average size of this little creature is between 90 to 160 mm (3.5 to 6.25 inches). The weight is between 70 to 165 grams.

TUBBATAHA REEF NATIONAL PARK
A WORLD HERITAGE SITE

Tubbataha Reef Natural Park lies in the middle of the Sulu Sea about 150 kms southeast of Puerto Princesa City. It is composed of North and South Atolls and the adjacent Jessie Beazley Reef and roughly contains 25,000 acres of pristine corals with rich biodiversity.

Tubbataha Reef National Park lies at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the geographic centre of world marine biodiversity. Although the Coral Triangle covers just two percent of our planet’s oceans, it contains at least 40 percent of the world’s fishes and 75 percent of corals. Tubbataha’s position at the centre of the Coral Triangle plays a key role in marine biodiversity conservation and in keeping our oceans alive.

In 1993, Tubbataha was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Its pristine reefs and high diversity of marine life serve as vital and essential habitat for internationally threatened and endangered marine species, with exceptional natural beauty and aesthetic importance.
In 1999 Tubbataha Reef National Park was inscribed on the Ramsar list of Wetlands of International Importance, because of its outstanding biodiversity and its important role as a habitat for fishes, reptiles, invertebrates and water-birds.
Tubbataha’s biodiversity… about 600 species of fishes…
Tubbataha’s two islets are habitats for over 100 species of endemic and migratory birds and among the last known safe breeding grounds of seabirds in Southeast Asia. The islets are the only known breeding grounds for the Philippines’ endemic subspecies of Black Noddy (Anous minutus worcestri) and the critically endangered Christmas Island Frigatebirds (Fregata andrewsi).

Tubbataha has been considered one of the most extraordinary dive sites in the world; dive season is about three months long, from mid-March to mid-June. At this time of year diving in Tubbataha is usually very favorable – clear skies, calm seas and visibility between 30 and 45 meters.
Tourism plays a key role in the conservation of Tubbataha, as park entrance fees provide the necessary funds to manage and patrol the Park.
For those interested to discover the magnificence and grandeur of Tubbataha and conquer it for a time... without getting wet, see the video below… shared by toppx2 channel…

Siquijor has magic. Lots of it.

Long ago, Spanish colonizers called it the “Isla de Fuego” (“Island of Fire”) due to the glow of the multitude of fireflies that would gather nightly.
Siquijor hides secret swimming spots like the turquoise waters of Kagusan and Salagdoong beaches, and the white sand-lined Tulapos Marine Sanctuary.

Cambugahay Falls features shallow multi-tiered waterfalls, perfect for an afternoon dip. And the town of San Juan has a natural spring park right at its center.
