Briese Schiffahrt Philippines Partners with Maritime Academies for Pre-Shipboard Cadet Training

We're proud to announce the successful completion of another batch of Briese cadets' pre-shipboard practical training in partnership with Iloilo Merchant Marine School in Iloilo City. This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to thoroughly preparing our cadets before they embark on their onboard cadetship.

From August 10 to 21, 2026, our cadets embarked on an intensive 10-day hands on training, mastering essential practical skills that will serve them well on their path to maritime career. The program's culmination was a simple recognition ceremony, where the cadets' hard work and dedication were recognized in the presence of their instructors and Briese Schiffahrt crew members.

Briese Schiffahrt’s ex crew Bosun Pilarta and Cadet Mantac, shared their experiences on board Briese ships. They inspired the new cadets with their stories of life at sea and inspirational talk.
Following their talks, Capt. Nesias Rondina, Jr., Briese Schiffahrt Philippines' Training Consultant, conducted a briefing session to ensure the cadets are fully oriented and prepared for their transition to life on board.

We extend our deepest appreciation to Capt. Rene Limjuco and the management of Iloilo Merchant Marine School, along with instructors 2/M Vergel Ken Clariza and 3/E Adrian S. Flores. Their tireless dedication to passing down essential knowledge and real-world skills ensures our cadets are well prepared.

Briese Schiffahrt Philippines Partners with Maritime Academies for Pre-Shipboard Cadet Training

Another batch of Briese deck cadets has successfully completed their pre-shipboard practical training in partnership with John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University in Iloilo City.

At Briese Schiffahrt, we believe that investing in our people from day one is the key to maritime excellence. Over 10 intensive days (10 - 21 Aug 2026), these future cadet seafarers gained essential hands-on skills designed to ensure they step onto our vessels confident, and fully prepared for their cadetship. The program wrapped up with a simple recognition ceremony celebrating the cadets’ dedication and marking a crucial milestone in their professional development, which was held on board the university's training ship, MV John B Lacson.

During the ceremony, our existing crew, Bosun Pilarta, MTM Balasan, and Cadet Mantac, shared their experiences on board Briese Schiffahrt ships, adding inspiration and encouragement to the cadets.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the university management, the Dean of the Maritime Department, the faculty, and the Shipboard Training Officer, Capt. Almonte. We also extend our thanks to the Master of MV John B Lacson, its officers and crew, and to the ship’s Management Capt. Villaflor.

Briese Schiffahrt Philippines Partners with Maritime Academies for Pre-Shipboard Cadet Training

Briese Schiffahrt Philippines has launched a new collaboration with leading maritime academies and universities to conduct specialized pre-shipboard practical training. Designed to ensure our cadets "hit the ground running," the program equips them with the practical skills needed for seamless integration into shipboard operations.

The inaugural program was successfully conducted by the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) for its IMEC-MAAP cadets at the academy's premises from July 20 to 30, 2026, officially concluding on July 30, 2026.

The training wrapped up with a simple closing ceremony, featuring impressive post-training reports presented by the cadets themselves.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the MAAP management and team for their invaluable support in making this initial run a success.
