Sad to hear another iconic aircraft lost in general aviation,
Im sure maraming naging trainee and mechanics na nasa abroad na ngayon at nagkaroon ng experience dito..
Pagkakaalam ko dalawa nalang flyable nito last time na nasa gen. Av pa ako..
Prayers for the Crews... 🙏

Many B1 and B2 engineers are planning to quit their permanent jobs this year.

Here’s why...

The 2026 data is out, and it’s a wake-up call for the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul industry.

Europe is short 4,000 engineers every single year, and the Freelance Exodus is accelerating.

The reality on the hangar floor:
75% of permanent Maintenance Repair and Overhaul employees plan to seek new roles within the year (Aviathrust, 2026).

27% of the workforce is nearing retirement, taking decades of expertise with them (CAE, 2025).

21-day delays in maintenance slots are becoming the new normal due to staffing constraints (Oliver Wyman, 2026).

We are keeping legacy aircraft in the air longer because of supply chain delays, yet we are losing the people who know how to fix them.

Fast-track training isn't a magic wand—you can't download 30 years of experience into a 24-month course.

Is the solution more pay, better tech, or a total overhaul of the Part 66 syllabus?

Life is fragile in aviation not for the faint hearthed!
Again our prayers and fast recovery to the survivors!

In a final report released in 2026, the NTSB revealed the cause of the terrifying 2023 Alaska Airlines landing at John Wayne Airport in California where the left landing gear collapsed on touchdown, sending sparks flying down the runway as passengers screamed in terror, and the answer was chillingly mundane.

A mechanic performing a routine overhaul in 2018 applied excessive grinding to a metal trunnion pin in the landing gear, introducing microscopic heat damage to the metal that was completely invisible at the time.

Over the next five years and more than 4,000 landing cycles, a fatigue crack slowly grew from that heat damage, completely undetected during regular inspections, until the pin finally fractured on touchdown during Tropical Storm Hilary.

The NTSB warned that "even relatively mild heat exposure from grinding during overhaul can lead to cracking" and catastrophic failure, meaning a single moment of slightly too much pressure from a maintenance technician's tool in 2018 set the clock ticking on a disaster that wouldn't happen for five years. All 112 passengers and crew survived, but the aircraft was destroyed.

"The only way of fly is up."
There’s a special kind of silence you only find at the top of a climb, right before the mission begins.
It’s where the grit of a Helicopter meets the beauty of the peaks.
Don't just fly—dominate the air. 🦅
