Members of DOST-PCAARRD Technology Transfer and Promotion Division, led by its Assistant Director Ms. Lucy A. Lastimosa and Representatives/Mentors of UP-ISSI, led by its Director Prof. Melanie M. Moraga-Leaño, made a site visit to Thega Coconut Farm's production area on September 15, 2025. The group conducted a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activity on the DOST-PCAARRD funded project to assess its progress and accomplishments in line with its aim of scaling up Thega's production of eco-friendly charcoal briquettes using DOST-FPRDI technologies.

Thega Coconut Farm, was chosen as one of the recipients of DOST-PCAARRD's Startup Grant Fund (Batch 3) and took part in the recently held Inception Meeting on September 18, 2024 at DPITC in Los Baños, Laguna.

The Startup Grant Fund (SGF) Program of DOST-PCAARRD aims to provide financial support and mentorship to qualified SMEs for the fast-tracking of their commercialization and R&D activities through mechanization and scaled-up production.

A total of eight (8) startup companies across the country, including Thega, underwent a rigorous evaluation and screening process for the said grant.

These companies, now supported and enabled by DOST-PCAARRD, UP-ISSI and their TBIs, aim to become catalysts for growth for their respective communities and provinces.
