๐ช Trial trenching works for the Metro Manila Subway Project commenced this week in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, where utility infrastructure is largely subterranean.
Conducted to identify the locations and conditions of existing underground utilities, trial trenching will generate validated subsurface data to support informed planning of utility relocation and ensure the safe ex*****on of main construction works.
Typical trenches are 4.5 meters long, 1.0 meter wide, and 1.5 meters deep. However, trench length will vary based on location, while depth is contingent on actual site conditions and utility depth.
๐ฆบ As we begin trial trenching works, representatives from the JICA - Japan International Cooperation Agency and Japan International Cooperation Agency - Philippines Office conducted a walkthrough with Nishimatsu-DMCI Joint Venture (NCDMJV) senior management at the project sites of Kalayaan Avenue Station and Bonifacio Global City Station on 30 September 2026. Alongside other observation points, the walkthrough gave JICA representatives a firsthand look at the procedures involved in trial trenching.
MMSP Phase 1 advanced through the longstanding partnership between the Philippines and Japan under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program.
โ๏ธ On the same day, representatives from MMSP General Consultant OCGlobal Joint Venture conducted the monthly Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Site Management Walkthrough, alongside NCDMJV leaders. The activity is geared towards assessing site conditions and the enforcement of safety protocols.
Each activity moves the Metro Manila Subway Project closer to reality. Through enduring collaboration, we advance toward the successful construction of the Philippinesโ first underground railway system. ๐๐ต๐ญ
