Start along the scenic Levada Nova, famous for its dramatic cliffside views and the iconic waterfall you can walk behind. When the two levadas connect, take the shortcut path instead of completing the full Levada do Moinho, creating a shorter circular route.

✅ This version is around 8 km and takes 2.5–3 hours, making it perfect if you’re looking for a relaxed hike with waterfalls, lush scenery, and panoramic valley and ocean views without committing to the full loop.

👉🏻 Levada do Alecrim PR 6.2 🤩 7km of round
trip, total of 2,5h to go and back, small elevation, scenic: laurisilva forest (UNESCO heritage), “heather tunnels”, views over the Rabaçal valley and Ribeira da Janela, stream crossings.

👉🏻 Highlights : Ends at the spring (nascente) of the levada / Lagoa “Dona Beja”; you get to see the water source, and there’s also a lake that feeds the waterfall Lagoa do Vento.
