Who decided gap years had to happen when you were 18 anyway? 😂

Somehow I ended up volunteering behind a bar, dancing on shift and having the kind of travel experiences I probably thought I'd missed my chance to have years ago.

Turns out there isn't an expiry date on adventure.

Or silliness.

Or doing things completely differently from how you thought your life would look. 💃🌍

Maybe the grown-up gap year deserves to be a thing.

We spend so much time searching for the next answer, the next destination, the next version of ourselves.

But some of the most meaningful moments happen when we stop searching long enough to actually notice where we are.

Travel doesn’t always have to be about doing more.

Sometimes it’s about slowing down enough to **feel more.** ✨

Of all the wildlife I've encountered around the world, I wasn't expecting Heathrow Airport to deliver quite so enthusiastically.

No safari required.
No wildlife tour booked.
Just turn up and wait for your flight. ✈️🐭

I went to Ecuador looking for adventure, healing and perhaps a little personal growth.

Ecuador apparently had another lesson in mind:

Sometimes the most transformative moments aren't the profound ones.

They're the random people, ridiculous encounters and moments that make you laugh for absolutely no reason.

I think he understood the assignment. 😂

What if the person who spent 14 years fighting drugs ended up believing psychedelics could help people heal?

That's exactly what happened to Neil Woods, a former undercover UK drugs officer who infiltrated organised crime for over a decade.

After leaving the police, he struggled with PTSD and what he describes as moral injury. An ayahuasca retreat in Peru became part of his own healing journey — and today he's helping create psychedelic retreats for emergency workers.

I find stories like this fascinating because they challenge our assumptions.

Not because psychedelics are a magic solution. They aren't.

But because sometimes the people who have seen the most damage are also the people most open to asking difficult questions about healing.

For me, this story is also a reminder that the retreat itself isn't the destination.

Preparation matters. Safety matters. Integration matters. The real work often begins when we come home.

Change can feel uncomfortable — especially when you’ve spent years knowing exactly who you were supposed to be.

But sometimes losing the old version of yourself isn’t the end.

It’s the beginning of becoming someone new.

Travel has a beautiful way of giving us the space to discover who that might be. ✨

Sometimes the most caring thing you can do for everyone around you is recognise when you have nothing left to give. 🌿

Rest isn’t selfish. Stepping away isn’t selfish. Choosing yourself isn’t selfish.

We’re told to put on our own oxygen mask first for a reason.

Solo travel has taught me that I am a strong, capable, independent woman who can navigate the world on her own. 💪🌍

It has also taught me that I have absolutely no idea which bus I'm supposed to get. 😂

Independence doesn't mean knowing what you're doing all the time.

Sometimes it just means being willing to ask, get it wrong, laugh about it… and try again.
