The sound of salām being recited.
That first glimpse of the dome.
The feeling of standing before Hussain (ع) with nowhere else in the world you’d rather be.

Ya Hussain, bring us back.

And perhaps for some of you reading this, “back” is closer than you think.

They tried to silence the message of Karbala. Allah gave it a voice that would echo for generations. 🏴

And that voice was Zaynab bint Ali (ع).

The daughter of Amir al-Mu’minin (ع).
The granddaughter of Rasulullah ﷺ.
The sister of Imam Hussain (ع).

She witnessed the tragedy of Ashura, carried the weight of its aftermath, protected the surviving family of Hussain (ع), and stood before the tyrants of Kufa and Damascus with a courage that history would never forget.

They took her captive. But they could never take away her dignity.

When we remember Karbala, we remember the sacrifice of Hussain.

And when we remember Zaynab, we remember how that sacrifice was carried forward.

Ya Sayyidati Zaynab… may we learn from your patience, your courage, and your unwavering trust in Allah.

There is something about the name Ali that brings peace to the heart. 💚

Three letters.

ع ل ي

Yet how much love, strength, comfort and history they carry.

A name we grew up hearing in our homes.
A name our parents taught us to love.
A name we whisper when life becomes heavy.

And then there is Najaf…

Where that love takes us to the doorstep of Amir al-Mu’minin (ع).

You stand before his golden dome, send your salām, and suddenly all the worries you’ve been carrying feel a little lighter.

Ya Ali…

How blessed are we to know you, to love you, and to have your wilayah in our hearts.

May Allah never deprive us of the love of Amir al-Mu’minin, and may He grant every lover of Ali the honour of standing before his sacred shrine.

Three nights before her Umrah… she dreamt of the Kaaba. 🕋

SubhanAllah.

Amir al-Mu’minin. Ali ibn Abi Talib (ع).

The father of the orphans.

And for generations of his lovers, Najaf has felt less like somewhere we travel to…
