X-scape with Project X!

Project X took 12 years to build, with her keel laid in 2010. But the story of Project X actually begins in 2007 when Kenneth Freivokh started her design.

Originally pitched as a 74-metre yacht there was an initial difficulty in securing a shipyard. The first, Marco Chilena in Chilé of Marco Marine, began showing signs of financial difficulty. The project had bloomed to 82-metres by this stage and included a second yacht. One of two superstructures was then towed on a barge more than 10,000 kilometres to Delta Marine in Seattle.

Ultimately a decision was made to have the incomplete yacht wrapped for seven years, before Golden Yachts Ltd was appointed to complete the yacht. Project X then arrived in Greece so work could begin again. The finished yacht stretched 88 metres and approached near 3,000 gross tonnes when it was delivered in 2022.

Project X is perhaps one of the most uniquely stylish large yachts available on the market right now for both sale and charter. The most striking feature is her triple deck atrium, with X-marked windows that flood the interior with natural light. A fully glass elevator takes complete advantage of this via a skylight above.

The interior of Project X has been masterfully styled by massaridesign. In the owner’s own words, the interior was to be something contemporary yet refined, welcoming and cosy. A different yet harmonious feel has been applied for every deck of the yacht. The SWM Yachts team was especially struck when we had the chance to view her during her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show S.A.M. The individual detailing and art pieces that remain unique to Project X are unlike anything we’ve seen on any comparable yacht.

For charter Project X can accommodate up to 12 guests in 9 distinct and stunning state rooms, with room for up to 19 guests if used privately. A large owner’s office sits forward, with expansive panoramic views and great access to the touch-and-go helipad that sits on the yacht’s bow.

A private whirlpool bath and sun-lounging terrace can also be found on the owner’s deck, with a gym, large whirlpool bath and more sun-loungers found on the sundeck. The expansive beach club includes a wellness centre with Hammam, sauna and a massage room/beauty parlour as well as a bar and entertainment area. The aft deck features a stunning waterfall fed swimming pool perfect for entertaining or enjoying a glass to a sunset vista.

The world’s busiest expedition yacht, currently in Antarctica!

Charter aboard one of the world’s most unique expedition yachts.

La Datcha is a 77 metre (252 feet; 7 inches) explorer yacht built by Damen Yachting and is the flagship for their SeaXplorer series of expedition yachts.

La Datcha is currently cruising the Sea of Cortez and is available for charter with a packed itinerary for the rest of the year. La Datcha features an Ice Class steel hull with Polar Code compliance, as well as facilities that allow her to maintain autonomy at sea for an extended 40 days.

Lapland has been connected with Santa Claus since 1927 - when Finnish radio host, Markus Rautio claimed Santa Clause lived on Korvatunturi, a fell in the region. The Lapland town of Rovaniemi has since staked its claim as Santa's official hometown. 🎅🏻

The biggest draw for visitors is undoubtably Rovaniemi’s Santa Claus Village. Dispend your disbelief and meet Santa in his office. Discover some of the secrets he uses to deliver presents, including Earth’s Rotational Speed Regulator. The theme park features everything from accommodation and attractions including; snowmobile and reindeer safaris. 🦌

The Arctic Circle runs right through the centre of the park and is clearly marked. Further north you’ll find luxury in the wilderness. Get a good night’s rest in an Aurora dome, with the Northern Lights in full view above, or sample fresh river salmon from the Tenojoki River.

The wildlife of Lapland is varied. Elk, wolves, snowy owls and brown bears all roam the landscape here. You can even hear about the history and nature of the land from a Shaman of the indigenous Sami people, in a traditional hut. Take a husky sled and traverse the tundra the same way the Sami have for generations.

In Kittilä, the SnowVillage hotel is partially constructed from ice every winter. Aside from the snow filled rooms there is an ice slide, ice bar and two restaurants. The hotel’s chapel makes for the most fairy-tale of weddings. Lit up at night against the backdrop of an aurora filled sky, is a view you won’t forget. 🌌

One of the biggest highlights of Lapland is Saariselkä. An adrenaline ju**ie’s dream, Saariselkä is one of the northernmost ski resorts in Europe. It has the longest toboggan runs in all of Finland and the Summer months bring white water rafting to the activity list. Antarctica is Earth’s most southern continent, covering an area of 14,200,000 km^2 (5,500,000 mi^2) and yet only a population of around 5,000 at its Summer peak. The total penguin population of Antarctica outnumbers humans 4,000:1. 🐧

Summer in Antarctica occurs between October and February. Conditions allow for flights and ships to transit scientists and their supplies to and from the continent. The days are long and in some cases the sun doesn’t set during the peak of Summer.

Charter expedition yachts provide ample opportunity for an esoteric and experiential adventure like no other. Many will have Ice-Class hulls and are able to make the passage unassisted. With helicopters, rugged tenders, ground vehicles and submersibles, no terrain goes unconquered.

The journey often starts from King George Island, having flown from Chile’s Punta Arenas. Alternatively, you can begin in Ushuaia, Patagonia, the southernmost city in the world, and brave the passage across this notoriously harsh body of water to your first destination.

South Georgia is often the first stop on the itinerary, with colonies of colourful king penguins and powerful elephant seals. Historical whaling communities live here and amongst the many graves of whalers who never made it home you’ll find the grave of explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton.

Another point of interest is Port Lockroy, hidden within the maze of the Neumayer Channel as floating ice sheets deceptively hide the path forward. A former British WWII base, Port Lockroy is now a penguin research base. It’s also the best place to send a postcard home, with the southernmost British post office found anywhere in the world.

The South Shetland Islands grant safe harbour in the form of Deception Island, where you can find a C-shaped lagoon formed by an ancient volcanic crater. The volcanic landmass was once a whaling station and today it’s a great locale for the scientific community to conduct research. Volcanism is still active here and it’s possible to dig yourself a warm ‘bath’ in the black sands.

Chartering a yacht to Antarctica is experiential travel at its most extreme. The scenery and wildlife will capture the imagination as you witness whales breach the icy seas and listen in awe to enormous glacier’s carving their way through the meandering landmass.

The latest Netflix star is available for charter.

In the first episode of The Crown, Season 5, Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) head on board M/Y Christina O for a second honeymoon. The classic lines of this beautiful yacht stood in for the historic Alexander, a former cruise ship turned luxury yacht the real couple spent time on in 1991.

Christina O is a 99.13m (325.22ft) motor yacht launched in 1943. Lovingly restored in 2001 and well maintained over the years, her latest refit took place in 2020. NEW – To the worldwide yacht charter market!

A SWM Yachts favourite has joined the international charter fleet. The incredible 108m (354’4”) IJE was launched in 2019 and is the largest Benetti-built yacht. ⚓️

Explorer capable, with an impressive 6,500 nautical mile range, she spent much of 2019 and 2020 cruising the globe. IJE has an unmistakable sleek profile. Slim, with a beam of only 15.5m (50’10”), she cuts through the water with ease, topping out at a fast 20 knots.

The owner that commissioned IJE knew that they wanted a beautiful yacht. They understood that volume needed to be sacrificed in order to achieve their vision of elegance and that is why IJE has a small volume of only 3,367GT for her size. IJE was designed with her aesthetic as the most important factor, rather than thinking about all the ‘must haves’ and designing the rest of the yacht as a wraparound. RWD, the exterior designer, described the bow overhang as the longest they’ve ever done.

The other priority was a capacity to carry large tenders. Two welldecks in the bow accommodate a 14m (45’11”) VanDutch 40 and a 14m custom RHIB. As an explorer, being able to get ashore no matter where in the world you were was of prime importance.

IJE comes with an extensive toy chest. No less than 8 jet-skis are supported by a 1,500 litre (396.26 US liquid gallon) refuelling station adapted from the same system used to support helicopters. A third tender is also found in the aft garage, as are a suite of additional water toys.

Onboard guests will find only the most modern of comforts. A pool overlooks the stern and an observation spot can be found on the sundeck. The interior, especially the salon, opens up to the exterior in multiple ways, allowing for a seamless transition indoor-outdoor and letting in vast amounts of natural light. A cinema and a small nightclub can be found indoors hued in darker colours in a stark contrast to the light tones found elsewhere.

A starboard-side platform lowers to grant the gym its own beach club, so guests can work out with superlative ocean views. Also, on board is a firepit to stay warm under a starry-night sky, a beauty parlour and a 16-metre (52’6”) tall art piece by DKT Artworks and Bill Cleyndert extends the height of the main lobby beneath a skylight from the observation deck. Every individual cabin lends a variation on an oak theme, with enormous airliner style portholes.
