🇪🇺💌 A little shipping update from me
You may have seen that new EU rules around packaging, recycling and environmental responsibility are coming into effect from 12th August 2026. I’ve spent a LOT of time trying to understand what this means for my little business, and honestly… there’s a lot to take in.
I completely support the reason behind the changes, businesses should be accountable for the packaging they put into the world, and I already try to keep mine as simple and environmentally friendly as possible. 🌱 I use a small cardboard box, tissue paper and paper tape — no plastic mailers, bubble wrap or unnecessary packaging here. 📦
The difficult part for a tiny, one-person business is the additional registrations, reporting and costs involved when selling to different EU countries now. Big businesses will have no problem with this, sadly it will be the small businesses that will suffer.
I’ve looked into France 🇫🇷 and Spain 🇪🇸, where I receive lots of orders. France looks to be around €80/year, while Spain can be around €274 + VAT/year for representative and compliance services, depending on the provider. These costs and the extra administration are a lot for a small business like mine, especially coming back from parental leave. So, for now, I’ve made the difficult decision to only ship within Sweden 🇸🇪.
I’m still looking into France and Spain, and if I can find a way to make shipping there work sustainably, I’d absolutely love to reopen them.
I also want to be honest and say that I’m not sure what the future of my little business looks like now. I ship handmade jewellery, wholesale and clay cutters all around Europe, so losing international shipping is a big change and loss for me. And with having a child now, I need to see how the next year goes and find a way that this can work for both my family and my business. I’m not saying this means I’m closing, I’m just taking things one step at a time and seeing how the next 12 months unfolds.
Thank you for every order, tag, photo and message. Your support genuinely means the world to me.
Swedish customers — I’m still here!
Thank you for supporting my tiny one-person business 〰️
