The transportation of goods between northern Scandinavia and central Europe is already extensive and is expected to increase by 50 percent by 2050. The need for efficient and environmentally friendly transport solutions is crucial. Bothnian Green Logistic Corridor
brings together 29 stakeholders in five countries aiming to integrate and further develop the existing road, rail roads and sea transpo

By focusing on the Bothnian Corridor and its catchment area, and by showing good examples of new business models, cross border and efficient technical solutions, we aim to develop a green corridor that strengthen the competitiveness and development in the Baltic Sea Region. BACKGROUND:
Over 90 percent of the iron ore mining in the EU takes place in northern Sweden. Northern Sweden and Finland also contribute to significant parts of the European production of gold, silver, sink and copper. The two countries are also the world’s second and third largest exporters of pulp, paper and sawn timber in terms of volume. The seafood industry in Norway is rapidly expanding with a continuous growth in export to the European markets. It is also observed a shift of dominating markets for fresh seafood from the Western to the Central and Eastern parts of Europe – with Poland and Russia as the main destinations for this export. How will rail investments effects employment and thereby tax incomes and GDP?
Well, that is one of the questions that now can be answered by using BGLCs new calculation tool.
– The only thing the user has to do is to insert the relevant economic input parameters, says Mr Jukka Lindfors, WP Manager, BGLC.
