This Presidents' Day, we recognize the leaders who have helped shape our nation and the values they represent.

At APL, we honor that legacy by naming our vessels after U.S. presidents. Since our earliest days, APL ships proudly flying the U.S. Flag and bearing presidential names have crossed oceans around the world, carrying not only cargo but also a tradition of leadership and commitment that continues to define our fleet today.

This holiday season, some of us will be home with our families, while others will be navigating the world's oceans, keeping watch on deck, and steering global trade forward, often away from loved ones for months at a time.

Each year, APL proudly partners with the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) to deliver fresh Christmas trees from Oregon to U.S. military bases in Japan. This journey spans thousands of miles across the Pacific, bringing the spirit of the season to those serving away from their loved ones.

It serves as a small piece of home and a reminder that the magic of the holidays can be felt no matter where one is.

From our humble origins as the Pacific Mail Steamship Company in 1848 with three vessels to our name to our role today as a trusted partner to the U.S. government and military, APL has proudly served – adapting through time but never wavering in purpose.

For nearly two centuries, we’ve stood by those who defend and serve our nation. Through every challenge, mission, and mile, our dedication has remained unshakable.

Today, American President Lines is participating in the 12th Annual Maritime Industry Sail-In on Capitol Hill, along with over one hundred representatives and key stakeholders representing all facets of the maritime industry, including other U.S.-flag shipping companies, American maritime labor unions, and related maritime organizations.
