Hanan has now turned into 7 years old, she lives in Mogadishu with her father who is the only biological parent she sees around. She never had the fortune of the care of her mother because she never met with her mother.

Hanan was born in May, 2008. And August 2008, when Hanan was just 3 months old, her mother abandoned from Mogadishu to Libya to migrate to one of European countries for a life better than the one she had in Mogadishu. Until now the whereabouts of Hanan's mother is not known to anyone even her father who still feels the pain of that tragedy. Hanan's father says the last time he heard from his wife was 2008 when she was preparing to embark on a boat of migrants sailing to Italy from Libya and since after that moment he had not heard the whereabouts of his wife. He was later informed by the people she was with that Hanan's mother was part of dozens of migrants drowned in the sea.

Tens of kids like Hanan experience this unfortunate and it will not stop if we don't stand to save our future labor force. It is not that we should only mobilize to thwart them in their attempts to go, that will not be the sustainable solution for this unfortunate. But we must promote peace and stability in the country so that foreign investments flow into the country where jobs are created for these young people setting out on this perilous journey. Those, whom insecurity made them flee from their farms into urban lands for food aid, return back to their farms to produce for local consumption. They also benefit from other resources in the country such as fishing and livestock. Our resources are explored and our capital in foreign countries are reinvested in the country so that we abstain from this unfortunate Hanan regrets !

IMID has a vision that our society will one day be economically dependent on its feet.

This mix of poverty, food insecurity, tremendous water stress and high levels of unemployment has created an environment for extremism and violence to thrive. As long as such conditions prevail, these areas will remain “soft targets” for extremist organisations, more so as climate change makes living conditions harsher.

The long-term solution is clear: give rural people the ability to remain productive and employed in their own settings. We need to recognise this migration crisis as the canary in the mine on climate change.

Conflict in the Middle East forces people to flee, but so does drought, destroying crops and livelihoods. We must invest in science for sustainable agriculture

Somalia is potential, lucrative and it has virgin natural resources never been explored. Early-bird investors would reap financial reward, it is not only that your business gains, you also create hope of employment and skills for those young generation we are losing in seas- that is morally needed.

There is gradually improving security situation in most parts of the country, federal states are thriving very hard to train lots of strong national army to guarantee and protect people and their properties.

Capital move is also encouraged to return to invest in the country.

Somalia may be wracked by conflict, politically fragile and braced for potentially devastating floods, but Abdusalam Omer believes it is ripe for foreign investment

Ethiopia shows it has made significant progress in some of its immensely needed improvements on the transport network in the country. USD 470m contributed by the republic of China and Ethiopia has enabled this service to be made available for the people of Ethiopia. 80% of this fund's been invested by the china while the remaining 20% was funded by the people of Ethiopia.

Magnificent achievement when compared to the transport situation in Ethiopia !

Sub-Saharan Africa’s first modern tramway has opened in the Ethiopian capital- Addis Ababa. It marks the completion of a massive Chinese-funded infrastructure project, hailed as a major step in the country’s economic development. The project is also expected to boost Ethiopia’s bid to make the city…

One of the most catastrophic and heinous human loss occurred in the Mediterranean sea during August, 2015.

Most of the migrants drowned in this boat were from Africa, the poorest families. It is tragic, we could stop this !

Will the arrival into a Libyan port of a vessel full of decomposing bodies force migrants waiting to cross the Mediterranean to think again?

It is a young Somalia pregnant mother rescued in the Mediterranean sea by the EU rescue team who have saved hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants.

This mother is pregnant, she is being taken to an MSF boat after being rescued in sea. The woman is heavy and not strong enough to protect herself from any danger, she's still determined to put herself into this risk-We need to stop them losing! IMID's endeavor is to make these young people productive in their own lands instead taking this perilous journey.

IMID(Initiative against migration and for Social Development) is a nonprofit initiative/organization from the community aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating youth migration.

The country is losing thousands productive labor force whom if they would have been invested could have changed the situation in Somalia. Strong and young people are losing their lives through perilous journey to western countries for better life and safe environment where they believe human rights are respected. That is also coupled by modern slavery they might during their transit to the destination.

Several reasons-mainly economic factors- encourage young generation to migrate from the country to improve the income of their families. These include in:

• Very limited employment opportunities
• Poor quality education
• Insecurity and uncertain future
• Poor working condition and unreliable job security ( for the lucky ones who got at least job to support the family)
• Peer pressure
• Corruption and economic inequality among society

Many other reasons motivate youth to abandon the country, IMID however develops programs to encourage young generation not take their lives into that risk. We encourage schools management to focus on quality education so that graduates come out being fully skilled, confident and innovative.

We also provide consulting advice to the youth to benefit from the resources in the country, come up creative ideas, innovative entrepreneurial startups. We tell them that Europe was like Somalia hundreds of years ago and its Europe's youth that developed the European people. We say 'why not you'. We try to empower them by making them realize their efforts can change Somalia truly!

IMID's objective is to empower our youth, promote social change, discourage inequality and contribute economic growth.
