Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan (Temple of Dawn) is an ancient temple that has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called "Wat Chaeng". It is located on Arun Amarin Road along the Chao Phraya River on the Thonburi side, opposite Wat Pho. It has been around since the Ayutthaya period. It was originally called Wat Chaeng. Later, when King Taksin moved the capital from Ayutthaya to Thonburi, he ordered Wat Chaeng to be a temple within the royal palace and established it as a first-class royal temple, a type of royal temple. It is the place where the Phra Phuttha Maha Mani Rattana Patimakorn (Emerald Buddha) was enshrined, which was invited from Vientiane. This temple underwent a major renovation during the reign of King Rama II, so it is considered the temple of his reign. When the renovation was complete, it was given the name Wat Arun Ratchatharam. During the reign of King Rama III, a large prang was built, 82 meters high and 234 meters wide, which was completed during the reign of King Rama IV. The name was changed to Wat Arun Ratchawararam, as it is known today. Open for viewing every day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
