Rent a Van, Sedan Car, or SUV Car, for a day trip that includes visiting beautiful temples and popular Instagrammable spots without getting too tired. I've planned the route to avoid traffic and minimize walking. 🚐
Bangkok 1-Day Temple & Landmark Tour by Van
08:00 AM - Wat Phra Kaew & Grand Palace 🛕
Early morning, fewer crowds, cooler weather.
• Opening hours: 08:30 - 15:30 • Entrance fee: Free for Thais / 500 THB for foreigners (includes Grand Palace) • Dress code: Very strict. Long pants and shirts with sleeves. No shorts or tank tops. • Highlights: Emerald Buddha, Giant statues at Wat Phra Kaew, Ramakien murals.
Time: 1.5 hours
10:00 AM - Wat Pho, Tha Tien
Located next to it, a 5-minute walk, or the van can drop you off right in front of the temple.
• Opening hours: 08:00 – 18:30 • Entrance fee: Free for Thais / 300 THB for foreigners • Highlights: Large reclining Buddha, authentic Thai massage, The Great Pagoda of the Four Reigns
Time: 1 hour
11:30 AM - Wat Arun Ratchawararam ⛴️
Take a ferry from Tha Tien pier (5 baht) and it will take you directly to the temple. The van will be waiting for you on the other side.
• Opening hours: 08:30 - 17:30 • Entrance fee: Free for Thais / 200 baht for foreigners • Tip: Thai costume rental for photos 300 baht (unlimited hours)
Time: 1 hour + lunch near Tha Tien/Wang Lang
13:30 - Wat Phukhao Thong (Wat Saket)
Climb up to see a 360° view of Bangkok. 344 steps, but the air is well-ventilated.
• Entrance fee: Free for Thais, 30-50 baht for foreigners • Highlights: Golden pagoda, viewpoint overlooking the old city
Time: 45 minutes
14:45 - Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram
A beautiful, peaceful marble temple with few people, perfect for photos.
• Opening hours: Approximately 08:30 - 17:30 • Entrance fee: Free for Thais / 50 baht for foreigners • Highlights: Marble ordination hall, image on the back of the 5 baht banknote
Time: 45 minutes 4:00 PM - Erawan Shrine, Ratchaprasong Intersection
Visit to pay respects and ask for blessings regarding work, love, and reputation.
• Open 24 hours, but evening visits are recommended as it's busy but lively. • You can buy garlands and watch traditional dancers perform as offerings opposite CentralWorld.
Time: 30 minutes
5:00 PM - ICONSIAM 🛍️
End your Chao Phraya River trip.
• Watch the musical fountain show, stroll through the Suk Siam zone, and find something to eat. • Photo spot: From Wat Pho pier, the view of Wat Arun in the evening with its golden lights is stunning. • If you have time, take ICONSIAM's free boat ride to enjoy the view.
