Alanya may be famous for its turquoise water and sunny coastline, but there is much more to discover beyond the beach.

At the heart of the city stands Alanya Castle, a historic fortress surrounded by approximately six kilometres of walls. Over the centuries, the peninsula has been home to Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman civilisations.

Below the castle, the Red Tower has guarded Alanya’s harbour since the 13th century. It was built during the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keyqubad I to protect the harbour, shipyard and castle from attacks arriving by sea.

On the western side of the historic peninsula, you will find Cleopatra Beach, known for its golden sand, clear Mediterranean water and Blue Flag status. Nearby, visitors can also explore Damlataş Cave, which was discovered in 1948 during construction work around the harbour.

From ancient landmarks and beautiful viewpoints to beaches, caves and local experiences, Alanya offers something for every kind of traveller.

Is Turkey starting to lose the tourists who used to return year after year?

For many years, Alanya, Antalya, Marmaris and Bodrum have been among the most popular holiday destinations for Danish travellers.

Sunshine, warm weather, hospitality, great food and the feeling of getting a lot of holiday for your money.

But something seems to have changed.

More people are saying that this year they have chosen Spain, Greece, Egypt or a completely different destination instead. Some say Turkey has become too expensive. Others mention poorer service, high prices in restaurants and shops, or the feeling that they no longer get the same value for money.

That is why I would like to hear your honest opinion — especially from those of you who used to travel to Turkey regularly but have decided not to visit this year:

What was the main reason?

Was it the prices?
The cost of flights?
The service?
The hotels?
Safety concerns or negative news?
Or did you simply want to experience somewhere new?
