The Chronically Ill Traveler Travel guides dedicated to traveling with chronic illness.

This is a sad post to make, but it appears my trip through Europe has come to an end halfway through the adventure. My health is becoming complicated and I don't believe I can organize a way to safely continue. I spoke with my pallative care doctor yesterday and I have a new medicine waiting for me at the pharmacy at home that I'm hopeful about.

A friend was kind enough to give me a buddy pass to get home and I believe I can get out in the next few days, with the help of the nonrev God's.

I look forward to healing, studying, and improving at home in NYC while continuing to update the website and provide support to others who wish to travel with their chronic illness.

I'm not sure if these are real, but something tells me they are.

😂😂😂

THESE ARE ACTUAL COMPLAINTS RECEIVED BY "THOMAS COOK VACATIONS" FROM DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS:

1. "They should not allow topless sunbathing on the beach. It was very distracting for my husband who just wanted to relax."

2. "On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like spicy food."

3. "We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the taxi drivers as they were all Spanish."

4. "We booked an excursion to a water park but no-one told us we had to bring our own swimsuits and towels. We assumed it would be included in the price."

5. "The beach was too sandy. We had to clean everything when we returned to our room."

6. "We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure. Your brochure shows the sand as white but it was more yellow."

7. "It's lazy of the local shopkeepers in Puerto Vallartato close in the afternoons. I often needed to buy things during 'siesta' time -- this should be banned."

8. "No-one told us there would be fish in the water. The children were scared."

9. "Although the brochure said that there was a fully equipped kitchen, there was no egg-slicer in the drawers."

10. "I think it should be explained in the brochure that the local convenience store does not sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts."

11. "The roads were uneven and bumpy, so we could not read the local guide book during the bus ride to the resort. Because of this, we were unaware of many things that would have made our holiday more fun."

12. "It took us nine hours to fly home from Jamaica to England. It took the Americans only three hours to get home. This seems unfair."

13. "I compared the size of our one-bedroom suite to our friends' three-bedroom and ours was significantly smaller."

14. "The brochure stated: 'No hairdressers at the resort.' We're trainee hairdressers and we think they knew and made us wait longer for service."

15. "When we were in Spain, there were too many Spanish people there. The receptionist spoke Spanish, the food was Spanish. No one told us that there would be so many foreigners."

16. "We had to line up outside to catch the boat and there was no air-conditioning."

17. "It is your duty as a tour operator to advise us of noisy or unruly guests before we travel."

18. "I was bitten by a mosquito. The brochure did not mention mosquitoes."

19. "My fiancée and I requested twin-beds when we booked, but instead we were placed in a room with a king bed. We now hold you responsible and want to be re-reimbursed for the fact that I became pregnant. This would not have happened if you had put us in the room that we booked."

Well, the chronic in illness has caught up with me. I need treatment that I cannot obtain in Turkey and will be flying to Zurich in the morning in an attempt to find medical care to stabilize my health. It's been slowly declining the last two weeks and now I struggle to walk very far.

I'm hoping my doctors can help me finish the rest of the trip, if not, then I will fly home in the next few days where I can receive long term care and focus more on my studies.

The entire reason of this trip was to help me improve my physical condition and web skills enough that I could return to work and I need to keep that focus, even with interruptions.

Visiting a friend in Bursa, Turkey. We decided to do the longest cable car in the world, and this is what we dealt with. My friend is a local, but since I'm with her we are both charged the foreign price.

I've seen this in many countries, but never to this extreme.

I am thoroughly impressed with the subway in Sofia, Bulgaria. It's very clean, modern, well maintained, accepts tap and go credit cards, and only costs 0.86 USD.

We could learn some lessons here.

Greetings from Skopje, capital of North Macedonia.

I had trouble accessing the internet in Kosovo and Albania so I've been a bit delayed. Glad to be able to access quality internet again. My issues were with the hostels, not the countries internet.

Alright. So.

I'm staying in Shkoder, Albania. There is only one bus per day to Pristina, Kosovo, at 1700. When my taxi came to pick me up from the hostel and take me to the place on the side of the road to pick up my bus to Pristina there were two people from Singapore who showed up last second to share the taxi.

We got to know each other in the taxi and while waiting for the bus. But on the bus the girl noticed she didn't have her wallet. They didn't have a phone that worked or anything.

So I texted the hostel who didn't have it, but called the taxi. He had it. He RACED ahead of the bus and managed to beat it to the next town to meet the bus and give it to them.

It was crazy but it worked.

I've met two people on the trip who said the ATMs took their debit cards. They have had so much trouble. It's a reminder to keep multiple cards in different places between your person and your bag just in case this happens to you.

Usually I can mentally deal with being sick. But tonight I can't. It hurts. It hurts really badly. I struggle so much every day to do what comes naturally to people. I am so tired of being in pain.

To my chronically ill friends, it's okay to have a bad day.
