Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko | ZSSK has put the first 4 fully modernised double-decker sleeping cars into regular service. 🇸🇰

You can now travel in them overnight between Humenné and Prague or Bratislava.

Originally built for Germany’s Deutsche Bahn in 1995, these former DB sleeping cars have been extensively rebuilt and modernised in Slovakia. 🇩🇪🔄🇸🇰

Here’s what you get inside:

🚿 Deluxe compartments come with their own shower and toilet.

❄️ Air conditioning, new beds, power outlets and USB ports.

There are 4 modernised cars already in regular service, with 6 more planned under the current contract.

A pretty impressive second life for these former German night-train cars ✨

Once both lines are complete, Cairo will have the world’s longest driverless monorail system.🇪🇬🚝

Route:
- East Nile Line: 56.5 km, from Cairo Stadium to the New Administrative Capital. Passenger service launched 6 May 2026.

- West Nile Line: 43.8 km, from New October City to Wadi El‑Nile (Giza). (Still under construction)

70 driverless Innovia Monorail 300 trains
up to 80 km/h.
Around 500K passengers/day per line.
Fully electric.

What does 44 hours on a train across the USA look like? 🚆🇺🇸

Instead of flying, I chose ’s Empire Builder to travel from Seattle or Portland all the way to Chicago.

Over two days and two nights, the scenery constantly changes: from the Pacific Northwest and the Cascades to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains, followed by the endless Great Plains before arriving in Chicago 👀

🛏️ My recommendation? Book a roomette. You’ll have your own private space, access to showers, and all your meals included.

💰 A roomette costs around $1,200 for one passenger, while the price per person is lower when two people share the cabin.

Favorite moment: eating in the dining car while watching the Rockies pass by outside the window 🏔️

It might not be the quickest way to cross the country, but it’s certainly one of the most unforgettable. ✨

Picture dump of the journey number 1: Milan 🇮🇹 -> Brussels 🇧🇪 with ‪European Sleeper

This new night train launched 9 September runs three times a week between Milano Porta Garibaldi and Brussels-Midi, via Como, the Gotthard line in Switzerland, and Germany.

It also marks the revival of an old service: a direct Brussels–Milan night train, that disappeared for almost 24 years 👀
