Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority - Tazara The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority, popularly known by the acronym TAZARA, is a bi-national railway owned by the two governments of Tanzania and Zambia.

This is the Official page for TAZARA, a bi-national railway offering both freight and passenger services across Tanzania and Zambia and, by extension, linking the tripartite regional groupings of COMESA, SADC and EAC: http://www.tazarasite.com TAZARA, covering a distance of 1,860km, runs from Tanzania’s major seaport of Dar es Salaam into the heart of Zambia’s Central Province, terminatin

g at New Kapiri-Mposhi, where it is further linked by road and rail to Zambia’s capital city, Lusaka (about 200km), Zambia’s mining nerve centre, the Copperbelt province (about 100km) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). TAZARA’s core business is freight and passenger railway transportation services. It is a major transporter of copper and other minerals out of Zambia and the DRC, but also conversely serves as a key conduit for all kinds of bulk imports from all over the world feeding the mines and agricultural farmlands of Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania and the DRC, as well as Rwanda and Burundi through the Port of Mpulungu on Lake Tanganyika. TAZARA connects the three regional groupings of COMESA, SADC and the East African Community (EAC). TAZARA’s passenger transportation not only eases mobility for some of the most disadvantaged rural communities in Tanzania and Zambia, but also provides a public railway service that is predictable, reliable, safe and convenient to the citizens of both countries as well as tourists from all over the world.

Honouring a Shared Legacy.

As part of the TAZARA@50 Golden Jubilee commemorations, leaders and representatives from the Governments of China 🇨🇳, Tanzania 🇹🇿 and Zambia 🇿🇲, together with TAZARA leadership, the Chinese Embassy, government officials and partners, gathered at the Gongolamboto Chinese Memorial Cemetery in Tanzania and the TAZARA Memorial Park in Zambia to honour the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice during the construction of TAZARA.

Through a minute of silence and the laying of wreaths 💐, they paid tribute to a legacy that continues to bind the three nations in friendship, solidarity and shared prosperity.

Marekebisho ya Muda ya Huduma ya Treni ya Abiria ya Mpakani ya Mukuba

Mamlaka ya Reli ya Tanzania na Zambia (TAZARA) inapenda kuwataarifu wasafiri, wateja na umma kwa ujumla kwamba, kufuatia ajali ya treni ya mizigo iliyotokea kati ya Stesheni za Idiga na Mlowo, Mkoa wa Mbeya, Tanzania, saa 23:43 usiku tarehe 5 Julai 2026, Treni ya Abiria ya Mpaka ya Mukuba, ambayo ilikuwa imepangwa kuondoka New Kapiri Mposhi kuelekea Dar es Salaam siku ya Jumanne, tarehe 7 Julai 2026, haitafanya safari yake hadi Dar es Salaam k**a ilivyopangwa.

Badala yake, treni hiyo itatoa huduma **kutoka New Kapiri Mposhi hadi Nakonde pekee, na baada ya hapo itarejea New Kapiri Mposhi. Hivyo basi, hakutakuwa na huduma ya treni ya abiria ya kuvuka mpaka kati ya Nakonde na Dar es Salaam katika safari hiyo.

Kwa sasa, kazi za uokoaji na ukarabati wa njia zinaendelea katika eneo la ajali ili kuhakikisha huduma za treni zinarejea kwa usalama haraka iwezekanavyo. Umma utaarifiwa mara tu huduma za kawaida za treni za kuvuka mpaka zitakaporejeshwa.

TAZARA inaomba radhi kwa usumbufu wowote uliojitokeza na inawashukuru wasafiri na umma kwa ujumla kwa uvumilivu, ushirikiano na uelewa wao.
