The craving of hedgehogs for various kinds of acidic foods, caustic substances, objects with a pungent odor has been noticed for a long time. Not a single hedgehog will pass by an oiled rag or a handkerchief smelling of perfume. There are cases when hedgehogs picked up and pricked cigarette butts on their needles or tried to “fall out” in coffee beans. Sometimes hedgehogs get rid of fleas in the traditional way, worked out and tested by more than one generation of wild animals: they enter the water up to the tip of their nose. It helps, but not for long. As soon as a pure Hedgehog walks through the forest, parasites again settle in his needles.
