Boutiq Foundation is a Ugandan community-based arts and culture incubator with a global vision, based in the Makindye district of Kampala. With its roots in Bunga's Tilapia Cultural Centre, over the last five years, Boutiq has organised events, music and film productions. In 2015, Boutiq established Nyege Nyege, a three day international music festival and music label (Nyege Nyege Tapes); from 201

1 up to today has administered Kampala Film School, a first institution of its kind in Uganda; in early 2016, opened a recording studio; has managed workshops,productions and many other community projects with sizable impact. Eager to leverage national, regional and international networks, Boutiq has set up a residency program for cultural producers from all over the world. A self-sufficient and pioneering organisation with growing national, regional and global links, Boutiq’s vision is to constantly explore new ways to stimulate the fertile Ugandan cultural community through creating sustainable platforms for production, promotion and distribution of artistic and cultural output made in Uganda.

For the past 3 years Boutiq Foundation has been running a community studio in Bunga, Kampala, Uganda called (Boutiq Studios) open to all underground artists who are pushing or want to push boundaries with their music. The studio has hosted many international and local musicians over the years including The riddlore?, Art Melody Art Melody. JoEy le Soldat, BATUK MUSIC, Wanlov the Kubolor, Blip Discs, Alai K Ukoo Flani, Otim Alpha, Jesse Hackett & Ennanga Vision , Albert Bisaso Ssempeke, Ross Alexander, Alyssa Moxley, Mammane Sani et son Orgue, Roi Rocky Assayag and Nessim Zghidi, Nilotika Cultural Ensemble, , Mc Yallah, Kongoloko, 'stone, Swordman Kitala, B**a Yut, Echengu Jonnathan Letia .You can find some of the output on our label Nyege Nyege Tapes. We are really excited to be hosting for the next month Sound Artist Alyssa Moxley and French photographer and filmmaker Stéphane Charpentier in Uganda for a residency. Alyssa is also the director and curator of the excellent Kinisi Music Festival and Stephan is the curator of the roving Photography exhibition 'Temps Zero' http://tempszero.com/. We are proud to announce that Arnold Aganze's film THE NGO, that was co-produced by Boutiq Foundation has won a special mention at the Carthage International Film Festival in Tunis and we are now waiting for the official invitation to the prestigious Fespaco in Burkina Faso, fingers crossed!
