Applications are now open for the FAM Trip for the 5th African Birding Expo, scheduled to take place from 28th November to 13th December 2026.
This familiarization trip is designed for birders, tour leaders, travel agents, conservation partners, media, and destination promoters who would like to experience Uganda’s exceptional birding, wildlife, landscapes, and conservation stories ahead of the Expo.

The Greater Blue-eared Starling is one of the glossy starlings species found in Africa.
There are four accepted subspecies:
Lamprotornis chalybaeus chalybaeus — Sahel region
Lamprotornis chalybaeus cyaniventris — northeastern Africa
Lamprotornis chalybaeus nordmanni — southern Africa
Lamprotornis chalybaeus scyobius — central and East Africa

In Uganda, the Budgeting process has started. Its time to raise the voice to the authorities not to forget tourism sector. Hmmm. What about birding??

Is our tourism developed to the desired levels? Not yet.

Do we have the appropriate Tourism Act to propel tourism development? Not yet
Do we have a political will to develop the tourism business? Yes
Do we have the funds to develop tourism? Yes
Do we have the needed tourism products? Yes
Do we have the right people to plan for tourism? Not yet
Do we have enough Technical and educated people in tourism? Yes
Do we have enough associations to speak to Government? Yes
