EPISODE 1 FOOD LOGISTICS
I bet all of us may know that food is the first basic human need. But what some of us may not know is how this basic need gets all the way from it's raw, processed or manufactured form, imported or exported and delivered to your stores/warehouses and kitchen.
We think a lot about your food logistics and supply chain especially on how technology is helping meet your food demands, who’s doing what in the sustainability space, supply chain mapping and food product lifecycle assessments and what these big trends mean for the logistics concern.
We know this sector is highly fragmented. On one end, there are a handful of very large food producers and distributors who operate complex global supply chains with advanced technology and sophisticated transportation networks. On the opposite end, there are plenty of smaller companies, whose reach may extend locally or regionally and whose operations are more manual than automated.
Big or small look up to us for your tracking and tracing challenges because we understand this one undisputable fact that “whoever has the best supply chain wins".
As I write this column, Some may attest with me that there are underlying food production problems, food supply chains are seriously lacking when it comes to visibility, tracking and tracing, safety and security compared to many other sectors. And we’re talking about food, not some discretionary commodity. This affects us all and it shouldn’t happen with the tools, technology and otherwise at your disposable. That's why we are here.
Boldly look up to us for your food logistics challenges because we crossed our hearts to address them right from your food sourcing, managing your suppliers and relationships, and managing your growing implications of water foot printing.
Our biggest focus though will remain on the transportation and logistics side of the supply chain for example warehouses to see how technology is helping operators boost productivity inside the four walls, product recalls and reverse logistics as well as the freight rail sector whose commitment to improving its once dismal service has made it a highly attractive transportation mode for time- and temperature-sensitive cargo, product updates on lift trucks, re**er containers and cloud computing.
In fact, cloud computing is a very hot topic that we will begin to cover more in-depth in the coming times . It provides affordability, scalability, and collaboration to large and small companies, making it one of the most important tools for the food sector in this century.
