Resurfacing to begin on U.S. 50, U.S. 56/283 in Ford County
The Kansas Department of Transportation will start a resurfacing project the week of July 26 along U.S. 56/283 from the east city limits of Dodge City to the U.S. 50/56/283 junction and from the junction to Fairway Drive along U.S. 50.

The highways will be reduced to one lane at time in smaller sections as work takes place on the 6-mile project area. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes as flaggers and a pilot car direct one-lane traffic through the work zone. The lane reduction will be marked by signs and cones. Highways will be open to normal traffic when construction is not taking place.

APAC-Kansas Inc. Shears Division of Hutchinson is the contractor on this $1.6 million project. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete by the end of August.

Comenzarán trabajos de repavimentación en la U.S. 50 y U.S. 56/283 en el condado de Ford

El Departamento de Transporte de Kansas (KDOT) iniciará un proyecto de repavimentación la semana del 26 de julio en la U.S. 56/283, desde el límite este de la ciudad de Dodge City hasta el entronque con la U.S. 50/56/283, y de ahí hasta Fairway Drive sobre la U.S. 50.

Durante los trabajos, las carreteras se reducirán a un solo carril por tramos, dentro del área del proyecto, que abarca 6 millas. Los conductores pueden esperar demoras de hasta 15 minutos, ya que abanderados y un vehículo guía dirigirán el tráfico de un solo carril a través de la zona de construcción. Esta reducción de carriles estará marcada con letreros y conos, y las carreteras volverán a estar abiertas al tráfico normal cuando no haya trabajos en curso.

El contratista de este proyecto, con un costo de $1.6, es APAC-Kansas Inc., División Shears, de Hutchinson. Si el clima lo permite, se espera que los trabajos concluyan a finales de agosto.

ALERT: Beginning Monday, KDOT will close K-43 south of Enterprise for an emergency project to replace a pipe beneath the roadway. The contractor, Reece Construction, has scheduled work to be completed no later than Aug 2026, conditions permitting.

Motorists will need to find an appropriate alternate route.

ALERT: Bridge repair to begin Monday on K-18 over Chapman Creek in Dickinson Co.

Temporary traffic signals will direct one lane of traffic through construction. The contractor has scheduled work to be completed by December, conditions permitting.

Shoulder widening project closes K-156 in Hodgeman County

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close K-156 from the intersection of U.S. 283/K-156 west 4 miles to 214 Road from April 6 through July 3 in Hodgeman County, weather permitting.

This closure west of Jetmore is part of the ongoing improvement project along K-156. The work is necessary to widen the shoulders, flatten the existing profile, replace multiple bridge structures and reconstruct the roadway.

During construction, traffic will follow a signed detour using U.S. 50, U.S. 400, U.S. 283 and K-23.

KDOT uses state highways for official detour for safety, weight restrictions and proper maintenance. County and city roads are not used for state-signed detours.

Venture Corporation, of Great Bend, is the contractor on this $21.5 million project, and it is expected to be completed by the end of December, weather permitting.

Proyecto de ampliación de acotamientos cierra la K-156 en el condado de Hodgeman

El Departamento de Transporte de Kansas planea cerrar la K-156 desde la intersección de U.S. 283/K-156 hacia el oeste, por 4 millas, hasta la 214 Road, del 6 de abril al 3 de julio en el condado de Hodgeman, si el clima lo permite.

Este cierre al oeste de Jetmore forma parte del proyecto de mejora en curso a lo largo de la K-156. El trabajo es necesario para ampliar los acotamientos, nivelar el perfil existente, reemplazar varias estructuras de puentes y reconstruir la carretera.
