Happy Friday!!

It's a bird, it's a plane........It really is a plane (a lot them) beginning this Thursday!

There will be a noticeable increase in air traffic at and around Ada Regional Airport as students and instructors of the Civil Air Patrol’s National Powered Flight Academy return to the skies over Ada on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, and ending Sunday, June 22nd, 2025.

The goal of the National Flight Academy is to provide cadets with a hands-on and interactive experience. They are given a solid flying foundation by providing approximately 10 hours of flight instruction in Civil Air Patrol aircraft in conjunction with up to 40 hours of ground instruction with FAA certified flight instructors, weather and schedule permitting. The learning environment is specially designed for cadets, and the low instructor-to-student ratio provides opportunities for mentoring and individual attention.

Through the flight academy, cadets gain crucial knowledge which can lead to soloing an aircraft. A solo flight indicates one has the attitude and aptitude to be successful in an airplane. The solo flight indicates a student can perform assigned maneuvers to the level of competence necessary for a safe flight with no explanation or assistance from their flight instructor. The solo flight is the pivotal first step for any student pilot on the path to earning their private pilot certificate.
