We had to bring you along for a bucket-list experience that Wes has dreamed about since he was a little kid watching the Goodyear Blimp fly over his house along Route 224. Back then, you could hear the unmistakable buzz of the old blimp's engines long before it came into view. Today, the modern blimps are so quiet you can barely hear them overhead.
After more than 25 years working at Goodyear, Wes and Chanda finally got the opportunity to take to the skies aboard this iconic aircraft. To make it even better, we were treated to a perfect Akron day for the flight.
As we float above Northeast Ohio, you'll also spot many of the locations we've featured in our local history videos. Keep an eye out for links that will pop up throughout the video if you'd like to learn more about the stories behind those places.
