Congratulations to Hydro-Québec for the official power ON of the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE)! The Port of Albany-Rensselaer has been a supply chain logistics partner to the project as the entirety of the cable necessary for the project was handled through the Port. The cables, manufactured in Sweden, were shipped directly to the Port, where the crew expended more than 11,750 longshore hours and handled more than 340 miles of cable.

Some members of the Port of Albany team heading to the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) POWERS + Smart Ports Summit that brought together industry leaders and stakeholders from across the maritime, logistics, and supply chain sectors. This was the first event with new AAPA President & CEO, Sang Yi (who we are looking forward to welcoming to the Port of Albany’s own Maritime Summit next week)

The event featured 75+ speakers spanning topics including port electrification, cybersecurity, sustainable maritime fuels, climate resilience, AI and digital innovation, and federal policy, including a keynote from NTSB Vice Chairman Michael Graham and a conversation on the Administration's Maritime Action Plan with MARAD Chief Counsel Elizabeth O'Connor.
